As a 68 year old white male, “woke” applies directly to people like me who finally realize how we were lied to during our upbringing including in school and want to make amends before our time in this world is over.
WOKE means aware. The MAGots are Super aware of what they are doing so that makes them all super woke. They are not aware of how those of us who are really WOKE see them, because they haven't a clue. That is, you would have to have a soul, and ethics and they have none of that. That is the problem. Instead they have people like Peter Thiel who parlays a Roth IRA into a 5 billion dollar tax free account.
Thiel is one of the reasons my daughter cannot buy anything that uses Paypal. The first reason is that the one time I used it I had a problem and that was that. Now we have a greater purpose not to use it, which is no affiliation with the likes of Thiel.
What Hitler did was give the illusion of supporting the people. For example, by introducing paid vacations and leisure activities, he actually increased the time that people worked, which subsidized the cost of all of these activities and the vacations, so that they were working more hours for less money per hour, and people were basically expected to participate in the activities because Hitler was afraid of the working classes organizing and protesting because he knew their activism could destroy his authority. So he had the Strength through Joy Program, Kraft durch Freude KdF program. Every minute of waking time was to be occupied, but it was to seem appealing. Especially that the working classes could visit far away places. In the long run that probably has helped Germany to be less insular, as has the stream of immigrants. That is why I feel that we need to be sending the Republicans to other places in the world. There is the sense of them suffering from too much inbreeding. Some of the goal that Hitler had was to make sure that work places were clean and healthy too, so that people were fit for the military. So, again it was totally manipulative like authoritarians are. The manipulation that the MAGots are using is evangelical brainwashing and lying and then they attract a lot of disturbed people and sociopaths to their party. So, the claim that the internet was going to give everyone access to information and people would be better informed is not true and that would help our democracy is not true. It is all about who is receiving information, and it boils down to critical thinking skills and good intentions. Without them it does not matter what access you have to information it is going to be going in one ear and out the other as my mother would say.
I enjoyed the piece from Sarah Hurst and I signed up for newsletter. I think it’s interesting that Graham said the last country to take territory through arms was the Third Reich. The Soviet Union did the same thing when it “liberated” land from the Germans. I personally think it would’ve been more compelling to point that out since there’s a direct connection to past Soviet politics at play.
I swear that the only word the GOP uses more than "woke" is "distract". In their world, no entity or person can do more than one thing at a time. And their supporters eat that up.
