I remember watching Trump’s idiotic pressers and thinking, “We’re on our own.”

Thank you for this…the fact Trump disbanded the pandemic response team has never gotten enough coverage. It wouldn’t have stopped Covid, but the outcomes would have no doubt been better if that team had been in place (and allowed to do its job).

Excellent piece!

You are correct; Biden is using clips like these in campaign ads, to blunt R claim as to how much better things were four years ago.

Hopefully, the Biden campaign’s efforts take root. Stay tuned.

The reminder I didn't want or need - I still can't believe they are pulling out the are you better off than 4 years ago line again. I remember being so afraid of dying - but still having to go to work. I still don't understand why the Rs didn't come up with another candidate.

"the Trump administration gutted the infectious disease defense infrastructure through shortsighted cost-cutting measures."

Because of course. Follow the Money.

When the reality of a global pandemic became evident, I Very NAIVELY told myself, "well, at least Dems and Reps will finally have to work Together to solve this!"

Hooo Boy was I mistaken!!

This is a good article that reminded me of a lot of things I had forgotten. It's a pity that Trump's handling of the COVID pandemic can't be made into a political issue because people are tired and don't want to be reminded of that era, because it's true that if it was the major issue in the campaign he'd be toast.

Great article and reminder. I got COVID in March 2020 as a hospital employee where masking was not yet required…and this is under Mass General/ Brigham umbrella. I got very sick. Was out of work for 9 months. Suffered many irreversible effects like cardiac disease and an aortic aneurysm. I have long covid and went from working 3 jobs to being unable to barely maintain a part time job as a nurse. I have not recovered. I have lost so much income and life force and it could have been prevented. They started wearing masks just days after I contracted covid. It upended my life and continues to do so. I lost friends so I am grateful to be alive but my life has been altered by his selfishness.

You are right. This does need to be brought back to public awareness.

I had to laugh at "strenuous flus". For a guy that says he has the best words, he doesn't know how to use them at all.

Remember when this malicious cyberware virus was released into the high level national security software at the invitation of Trump? I don’t remember it’s code name but I can testify today it is slowly eating away and stealing money from consumers. This malware is invisibly holding infrastructure hostage. It’s costing us all in billions just to stay ahead of the threats. I wish investigative journalism would report upon how Trump and his administration has ripped off the world through his international transactional crime family.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've posted this article on FB, restacked it, and just finished making up a bullet point list to post for those of my friends and relatives who won't read the article. It is very helpful and should be used for a Biden ad, although my 13 bullet points would probably be too long. Maybe a 3-part ad?

Great summary, thanks. As a Frontline ( ER) worker I will never understand those who minimized the threat, unmasked early or declined vaccines and boosters. I hold them all responsible for every death after masks were recommended and after vaccines were available. I never thought my fellow Americans could be so breathtakingly stupid. Surely, besides shirking and flubbing his responsibility to the nation, Trump greatly increased the numbers of stupid people.

I am definitely not a Trump fan. But, when the pandemic started I had high hopes that he would rise to lead our nation through this crisis.

I am in California. I would start my day by watching Governor Cuomo’s press conferences at 9am, then Governor Newsome at noon, and then I tried just a few times to watch Trump’s new conferences at 3pm. That’s when all my hopes were dashed for our country. I still have nightmares from those early days!

That was a nightmare trip in the wayback machine. LOL. Well written. People need to be reminded of the shitbag Trump was if they can't pay attention to him now.

It all came screaming back to me when reading this. It's still nearly unbelievable how badly he handled or refused to handle the pandemic.
