While I don’t put a lot of confidence in polls, I am gobsmacked by the one referred to towards the end of this editorial. That people think that trump would be better in a crisis, that he is more capable to problem solve, and that he is more energetic and alert, just blows my mind. What kind of people draw these conclusions? I think in America today we are seeing a very textbook example of how propaganda works. It is very effective. I don’t watch television, because I don’t have a television, but I read the news clips. I read Public Notice Editorials, I read some of the things from the Washington Post, I follow Reuters and the BBC. I remain amazed at the lack of critical thinking in this country. I overheard an old white haired man at the YMCA gym yesterday, talking to his buddy and his actual words were “all the American people don’t know how good Russia is, if they only knew how good it would be for us to be friends with Russia, then they would wake up.” That is just incredible!

But of course, this is an old white haired man who idolizes the orange menace so no surprise there. I’m a baby boomer, I’m 73 and I am keenly aware that my generation is responsible for a great deal of the mess we’re in today. I only wish I knew earlier what I know now. I can only say that I am so very sorry for my lack of awareness and my contribution to, the chaos and wreckage of today’s political system. I am doing my best now, voting Democrat, helping to campaign, pushing back against irresponsible statements, and ridiculous opinions expressed sometimes in groups when I’m having conversations. Because I am a senior fitness instructor and fairly well liked, I am able to participate in these discussions without making people upset because I don’t insist that they’re wrong. I just point out the facts to them. It seems to be a constant uphill battle. Vote BLUE!

Joe Biden posts his annual physical report for all to see:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Health-Summary-2.28.pdf

It even includes his social history: “The president has been happily married for 46 years. He does not use any tobacco products, does not drink any alcohol, and he continues to work out at least five days a week.”

The report leaves nothing to hide.

While the report does not mention that he is a devout Christian, somehow that never comes up as a comparison to TFG.

If Joe has obstructive sleep apnea, I'm sure Trump does too!

If I recall correctly, it is somewhat common.

Great Article Stephen. You point out "the obvious" that I sincerely believe more Americans believe about Trump versus Biden. Always an excuse for Trump behavior, always ignoring obvious flaws, mistakes and constant bs. He is a chronic liar, a moral failure and a legend in his and his minions own minds BUT yet there is always an Excuse, someone willing to point out how all his negative trials, statements and behavior can be to his Advantage. Seriously????

Maggie Habberman made her career on being an "insider" to Trump. More like creating something he is not.

If Trump is the answer for our country, then we are finished as a true World Leader and a Model to emulate. I do Not believe this will happen in November. It would be made easier if the headlines could be more about Biden accomplishments ( there are so many) than the latest Trump day. The Election is not in high gear yet. I will be out canvassing in the Fall as I did in 2020 for 6 weeks and I plan on seeing the Orange Monster fading off into his sunset.

Regarding Sleepy Don's naptimes, this, from Mary Trump's substack post, (Inside Donald's Mind,) all the way back on April 16th:

"He’s also going to be bored out of his mind. For him to be facing this completely alone — without family, without friends, to the extent he even has friends — is telling on so many different levels, and it's going to play into the kind of stressors — the lack of control, the disrespect, the boredom — that he’ll be experiencing unremittingly on an almost daily basis."

Did she call out her uncle, or what?

Small error which in turn obfuscates Trump's (possibly intentional) error: He called her “Maggot 𝘏𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯” in that Truth Social rant, which I guess could've been on purpose as an intentional misspelling of her name - or he's that addled and got her mixed up with Congresswoman Harriet Hagerman, his chosen acolyte who successfully primaried Liz Cheney in Wyoming.

"When he takes the stage at rallies, he basks in adulation for several minutes, dancing to an opening song"

That ain't dancing by any stretch of the imagination. Giving him credit for his strength and virility by mentioning that really destroys their argument.

He has a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea.

Trump is a classic fit for the typical patient profile. Obese, thick neck and daytime hyper somnolence. Clearly needs to get a polysomnogram, which is what I would recommend on Day One if I were his physician!

Despite all their “but her emails” bullshit, after trump became president in 2016, nyt subscriptions skyrocketed. I think they got 3 million new subscribers. They want a 2nd trump presidency. He’s good for clicks. That’s good for their bottom line. Which is good for shareholder payouts.

"He needs activity. It’s really cruel and unusual punishment."

Note 1: Anyone who "needs" activity wouldn't ride around in a golf cart as much as he does.

Note 2: Is sitting in courtroom, day after day, cruel and unusual punishment for everyone who's on trial or just Trump?

Also, we've learned today via Politico that the reason the NYT printed so very many articles about Biden's age and unfitness is because Biden hasn't given it an interview. The managing editor, or owner, or someone in authority, told the journalists to pound on Biden's as retaliation.

Thank you again for putting your wisdom into words so we can begin to make sense of all this and be able to speak intelligently about it.

I do see the cracks in the facade coming. I see the dominoes beginning to tumble. Deprived of his voice, his adoring fans and being subject to hear truth… the man is falling apart and quickly. It really is remarkable and I think his first criminal trial on top of his financial losses… the wizard of oz’s curtain is bring drawn back. The emperor has no clothes. Ty for your reporting.
