Trump’s rhetoric is almost comically anti-renewable — “We will not approve wind or farmer destroying Solar. The days of stupidity are over in the USA!!!” — and the policy has followed.
Name me one farmer that believes the sun destroyed their farm. Crops need sunshine. It’s an integral part of photosynthesis. The fossil fuels, on the other hand, have played a huge role in climate change and contributed to crop-killing droughts. We all know the damage working in a coal mine does to a person’s lungs.
You can’t make this 💩 up…🤦🏼♀️
Thanks for this positive update that the world is still moving in the right direction. ❤️
Amen, Lisa. Not only that, but the landowner payments to farmers leasing their land for wind or solar projects provide them with a steady and predictable source of income in a business where they typically need to have a near perfect balance of weather, diesel fuel prices and market prices for their crops to make money. I have heard testimony from many landowners that leasing a portion of their land for renewables have allowed them to keep farming and to have something to pass down to their children.
He doesn't understand that people "want" cheaper and cleaner energy, but of course he isn't interested in what the people want because he doesn't care about them.
Just watched “GroundSwell” about how industrial farming is harming the land&food it produces. JD Vance. I’d never heard the term desertification before.
While this is not quite on topic, my point is we must quit electing stupid, self centered pols. Whoever said “I want a president I can have a beer with, should be shot. I want our leaders to be the best&brightest. I don’t want entertainment from the president. Joe Biden working vs talking was fine with me.
Well Trump might not be able to block the switch to renewables but he's doing a totally tremendous, more tremendous than anyone's ever seen, job putting China in charge.
I will never understand why the oil biz has been so resistant to future, less disastrous energy sources. They could be the worldwide leaders in green energy. Instead, China has done the sensible thing and now they dominate green energy. And whatever country dominates energy production, dominates the world, while countries that embraced carbon technologies lose their international strength.
Trump displays his complete lack of knowledge about green energy, combined with the intention to give as much of OUR money to the fossil fuel industry- I don’t know about you, but I was never asked for my permission to use my money in this way- which together have both made us look foolish to the rest of the world as well as set us back years in saving our planet by supporting green energy. Typical Trump- if he doesn’t understand a concept or has buddies who oppose it because of financial reasons, he screams fraud, corruption, conspiracy, and his base - and the GOP in Congress- get on board and yell and scream, thinking that they have the power to stop research and forward thinking. All that they accomplish is to make us more dependent on an industry that is causing harm to our planet.
From the NYT article Paul cites: China’s clean energy efforts contrast with the ambitions of the United States under the Trump administration, which is using its diplomatic and economic muscle to pressure other countries to buy more American gas, oil and coal. China is investing in cheaper solar and wind technology, along with batteries and electric vehicles, with the aim of becoming the world’s supplier of renewable energy and the products that rely on it.
A curious thing: Donald Trump loathes history - too much DEI, all those discolored people - yet wants to stay in the Fifties … when Trumps ruled an empire … albeit Queens.
Bringing me to ask again: If Trump was trying to destroy the country, would he be doing anything differently? Timothy Snyder and Ruth Ben Ghiat note the difference in the Trump authoritarian playbook relative to historical examples. Trump is moving faster and is not just taking over, seems intent on making government incapable of functioning.
They can pry my EV out of my cold dead hands lol. I am glad Chevy continues making EVs because I had to get out of our Teslas. We will never go back to an ICE vehicle.
There’s an interesting report in the Guardian newspaper today about Spain’s investment in renewable energy moderating the current oil price shock.
Re. EVs Some models for sale in the US are quite inexpensive compared to gas-powered or hybrids (ie Chevy Bolt) and some states still offer rebates. Definitely this administration is taking several steps backward in clean energy transition as in other fields that benefit us and the health of the planet!
The Trump regime keeps soiling itself and providing the Ds a veritable cornucopia of sound bytes to hoist the entire MAGAverse on its own petard. Gotta love it.
The damning characteristic of MAGA, though, is that America saw it coming as early as Palin, didn't stop it because it didn't want to, and even after trump is gone, the voters who either deceive themselves that MAGA is not a corrupt sydicate, or know that it is and keep voting for it, will remain. That means more early warning signs will be missed, ignored or manipulated. Let's hope that the common sense that built the 40 years before trump has the legs to go the next 20 to 40 that it will take to move along the MAGA voters.

Sun Baby Sun. TY for this concise update.
My 4 panels/900 sq ft home- can generate up to 350% energy daily (western Colorado).
Installation in 2021 w generous federal tax credit.
I bristle when the meany moron (POS) takes another whack at our efforts to go sustainable thus only advancing our new weak linked MO.

He doesn’t understand “people” period.

It is really hard to stop electing stupid, self centered politicians when we have stupid people voting.

There is a conservative candidate in Whyoming that is going to stop “woke" wind energy… like, huh?
I thought coffee was “woke” energy.
Yes!
Trump, world’s greatest businessman…who concedes the EV market to China. 🤷🏽♂️
