The results continue to show that Dobbs is an issue. Also, that voters ‘get’ who is responsible for the Border. It is a good sign of an apparent trend which must continue.
Yes it's certainly heartening news for Americans who want to keep their country a democracy with the rule of law. I think this pattern of Democrat over-performance in Special elections is quite significant and suggests that the Democrat base is well fired up regardless of their level of enthusiasm for Biden. Furthermore, nothing fires up the Democrat base better than having Trump on the ballot. We can but hope.
Interesting thoughts about the effect of the constant "anti-mail-in" effect on GOP voter turnout. Won't constant harping on the "Dems Steal Votes" also add to the feeling that "my vote won't count" amongst all but the most motivated?
One interesting thing about suburban voters--they are more likely to be well educated and more likely to be pissed off by increasing GOP hypocrisy. Apparently exit polls in NY suggested that at least some voted for Suozzi because they were disgusted by the failure of the bipartisan immigration bill. They are perfectly capable of recognizing the Thumb of Trump and the reason he didn't want it passed. And they know that "something" is better than empty campaign rhetoric.
I am very relieved that Suozzi won. The whole Santos episode was a stain on former New Yorkers like me and on current ones like my good friend who lives in Great Neck, part of that district. Let's hope this victory bodes well for the other Republican districts that were lost in 2022.
Thanks for noticing that glaring error in spelling. It was the second or third time I saw that error recently. Come on writers! Set higher standards and proofread.
Excellent piece.

It might also mean that those who don't get who is responsible for the border also don't vote.

“while inclement weather can keep Republicans home, changing a potentially close election into a route.”
No. Not into a path. Into a ROUT.

They fixed it.
