"Why Trumpers are Losing it Over Taylor Swift" could be answered quite shortly. Because they are politically stupid with no self discipline. Given her huge following with young female voters - a key liberal voting demographic - inspiring substantial numbers of them to vote who otherwise may not is dumb, dumb, dumb. Let's see how big a hole they can dig themselves into. It might be a rare moment of entertainment this electoral year.

Unfortunately, that might just mean the Trumpers are a bit less stupid than we've been assuming—since they know young women care about things like Bodily Choice (since they're the ones who can get pregnant when their MAGAt SONS! have sex with them), Income Inequality (because they're more likely to start out with crap-paying minimum wage jobs and stay at them longer than their MAGAt SONS! will), and what's left of the Social Safety Net (because they're more likely to be Last Hired, First Fired than a MAGAt's SONS! are).

A bunch of young, politically-engaged women voters are MAGA's worst nightmare because they're opposed to everything the MAGAts support, up to and including a bloated, bad-smelling, evil old fuckhead like their Mango Messiah.

A very minor point but the article implies Swift is from Tennessee (“In 2018 she endorsed two Democratic candidates in her native Tennessee”). She’s not - she’s from Reading, Pennsylvania. Sorry, I’m being pedantic, I know... but I’m from a nearby area and, while it’s a silly sentiment, I’m proud she’s from around here.

Thanks Yersinia. I tweaked that sentence.

Bingo. It's easy to forget except for her music. To me, they scream ”Woman from Reading” much more than ” Girl from Nashville”.

Swift moved to Nashville with her family as a teenager to try and make it in country music, right?

Love the hint that this could become a self-fulfilling prophecy, that the MAGA media-GOP axis might've already pissed off a ton of Swifties and they'll mobilize against them even if Taylor herself stays out of it. I don't know if all this pants-pissing on Fox News and elsewhere - which is far more entertaining that the conspiracy copium - is going to push her into it, but it can't be helping.

My favorite from yesterday might've been that Jack Posobiec d-bag saying "We don’t have Taylor Swift on our side, but you know who we have? We have Kid Rock. We have Ted Nugent. We have influencers. We have all these people - Jon Voight," to a crowd of TPUSA fanboys in Vegas.

Or the "hard news" cover story from not very secretly right wing operation The Hill, which might've been even funnier: "Swift has yet to state her support for any candidate in the 2024 cycle, though given the 2020 endorsement, a nod to likely GOP nominee former President Trump seems unlikely... Biden is considerably less popular now, and there could be real questions about whether Swift would want to even get drawn into this year’s race," written like they're trying to wish it away.

I'd be plenty shocked if any TPUSA kids know who Jon Voight is.

He's Zoolander's Dad!

Also the Crazy Kraut who got eaten in ANACONDA.

Oh, and the father Angelina Jolie doesn't even talk to anymore.

Yep, I can imagine LOTS of young voters taking their political cues from That Guy....

Great article. It boggles my mind why the Magets took up this hate campaign but there is nothing too crazy for them.

As Noah said “Republicans loathe successful single women, especially if they’re Democrats. So it’s not exactly a surprise that they hate Swift.”

The GOP already has huge numbers of women voting against them due to their anti-abortion positions but sure, attack another woman. The stupidity never stops because the hatred never stops.

Great article. I have one gentle correction, Tennessee is not native for Taylor Swift. She was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and moved to Nashville about 20 years ago. And I think it’s hilarious that the Republicans talk about people idolizing Taylor Swift. Oh, the rich irony of that. They are the ones that had a gold statue of Trump at the last Republican national convention a couple years ago. People were literally bowing to it. Like I said, the irony just writes itself.

Isn't it ironic that the radical right, who are falling over themselves to kiss the ring of the orange Jesus, are accusing Taylor Swift fans of worshipping false idols. Oh the hypocrisy of that bunch!

It's a ridiculous reaction! The GOP are coming across just like the bullies they are in actuality. Swift is a young woman going to a football game with her boyfriend's family to cheer him on. What could be more wholesome?!!

Add to this that Swift has a little rock n’ roll in her. Right-wingers and Jesus freaks do not like rock n’ roll, and never have. Does anyone remember how Elvis supposedly worked for the CIA? The funniest would be if this really was a psyop how brilliant it would be. If so, it could just be Swift and Kelce fucking around with all of us. In terms of media, think back to Michael Jackson. Anyone who had contact with that man in the 80s was tabloid fodder, and I'm not talking pedophilia accusations. People lost their minds over Lisa Marie Presley.

Except right wingers, and Jesus freaks do like rock ‘n’ roll, they just keep it on the down low.

I am about as far from being a sports fan as you can get . My expertise extends to knowing the shape of the ball involved. And I've never paid much attention to Taylor Swift. Tom Waits is more my style.

But I do think I'll give a little cheer for whichever team her boyfriend plays for.

The Republicans are suffering from DTSD (Deranged Taylor Swift Syndrome). DTSD is a paroxysm of dumbness and immaturity that occurs when an innocuous act committed by a successful single woman is interpreted as a thumb in the eye.
