Putting asside the rather disturbing visual of a naked Donald Trump, I think that the cliché "Follow the Money" will be a strong key in this election.

With the Trump camp hijacking the RNC, and some mega-donor cash mis-diverted to Trump's legal bills, less money will be available to his campaign and those down-ballot, which should give us a boost in November.

Mission accomplished Aaron. A good article achieved when on light duties. I notice the improvement in the polls but I would feel a lot better if Biden was clearly leading in the swing states. That said I've always hoped that Trump would prove a terrible campaigner this time round. He's noticeably poorer than he was in 2020 and 2016 and I don't think he's capable of changing this unattractive narrative of vengeance and a sense of his own personal victimhood (in the face of the evidence) and unlike 2016 people now KNOW that he won't prove more sensible and moderate if elected...But I'm still worried. No room for complacency everyone!

Really enjoyed this interview with Simon Rosenberg....except for the repeated mental pictures of "Trump is naked."

What a great conversation! I have been telling those who will listen, here in my hometown in Central Ohio, that Biden is going to win in November 60% - 40%. Needless to say, I don't get very many free cups of coffee downtown but the conversations are lively!

Great insightful article with lots of good points and food for thought. I'm still laughing at Trump "wearing more makeup than a drag queen." I have gotten to the point where I just ignore polling numbers as we're far enough out from the election that they are going to change multiple times. But I'm feeling hopeful. Thank you!

I appreciate the column and Mr. Rosenberg’s insight. Let’s assume he is correct about everything. From my vantage point, Trump and MAGA expect to steal the election if they don’t win. States are passing voter suppression bills, talking about ignoring voting to select their own electors, and pushing the result to the House, which is Trump country. I’m wondering how Mr. Rosenberg feels about that and what steps are being taken for the election to not be stolen (by Trump, the projection king).

Always glad to see an article by you Aaron. It’s also something that’s needed to lift us up after watching how the fraudster and his cult continues to spread the cacophony of hatred.

Reading an article like this does give me some glimmer of hope. There really are a lot of people who are fed up with all of the bad behavior not only from trump but from the republican party. The republicans would have you believe that 51% of Americans are going to vote for trump. That is a flat out lie. But people listen to that stuff and they let it persuade them. I cannot believe the extreme lack of critical thinking amongst republican voters in this country. And marjorie greene? Don’t even get me started with her. She is loving her little place in the spotlight right now, and yet a more unfit, incapable “legislator” has never existed, she legislates nothing but chaos and hatred. Her ignorance seems abysmal.

Simon Rosenberg is quite insightful here, and Trump’s money problems should make this election a Biden win, assuming the media really doesn’t give Trump a pass. Which I’m not sure they won’t do.

I appreciate the analysis and the discussion of poll trendlines, funding, and the breakdown of candidate strengths, but I think Rosenberg is making some dangerous assumptions.

To me, the idea that the Never-Trump crowd is a significant boost is ludicrous. Any prominent Republican campaigning against Trump is no longer a prominent Republican very quickly, and I don't see that changing while he's alive. Anyone opposed to fascism in that organization has already left. Meanwhile there's no discussion of the left as voters in this conversation at all, and the Dems' support of Israel in Gaza has devastated their support from a small, but very vocal and engaged, part of the electorate. I think taking the support of anybody left of center for granted is another big assumption.

Polling is not voting. I also wonder what all of the Republicans in Congress will do when they are secretly in a voting booth. It seems like a lot of them are getting fed up with Trump's negativity and ego, and taking all the money from them.
