Exceptional article. Thanks for showing folks how Project 2025 will affect them in straightforward terms.

I keep seeing articles about choosing people that are loyal to trump. I thought we're supposed to be loyal to the Constitution. But I guess in Vought's "post-constitutional" America , we're back to a trumpian monarchy. I'd like to remind everyone that in 2026, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Maybe we'll need to write a new declaration and separate from a king again.

Besides taking away any information that isn't propaganda, killing education, and filling the government with loyal partisan hacks, part of the agenda will be to stop protesters using the military. We are watching the end of our democracy. We really need to continue to speak up, but instead we're seeing more and more obeying in advance.

Hoodwinked? But of course! The question, then, is what will the betrayed do—protest … or just take it? Again and again and again; what was that definition of a person who keeps making the same mistake and hoping *this time* for a different outcome?

I'm a retired academic and I'm not going to lose any sleep worrying about American Academy. Not only is it a bluff, but it shows, once again, that Trump and his people have no idea how universities work. Universities must apply to their state for approval of new degree granting programs and American Academy would have to receive state approval for each state where they offer their programs. Generally, accreditation is a state controlled issue, not a Federal issue, and most accrediting bodies are regional, including both Red, Purple and Blue states. Trump would have to get states to coordinate and abolish these agencies, which wouldn't happen because who wants their state universities to be unaccredited when the universities in the state next door are accredited. There's also a lot of specialized accreditation that is not funded through the Federal or state governments. Foreign students would not apply to non-accredited schools due to their countries' laws, policies and funding. While Trump hates everyone who's "foreign" a lot of universities rely on these students because they don't qualify for most scholarships or discounts, and pay the full amount. Unaccredited schools could not operate in most foreign countries due to local laws. Trump could withhold Pell grants and other Federal funding but then he's pissing off a lot of parents. There's also the issue of telling parents "Hey, guess what, your kids aren't going away to college, they'll stay at home, in their bedroom, for four years. Your kids won't have the opportunity to mature, live independently, learn to make their own decisions, gain social skills, etc." On a practical level, you have to build a platform, develop a lot of curriculum for different disciplines (of course, no "woke" disciplines), and hire administrators, staff (applications, registrations, accounts receivable, collections, etc.) and faculty to teach the courses which would take a lot of time and money. You'd then have the problem of employers accepting these degrees. DeSantis, et al, took over New College of Florida, a small liberal arts school, and have destroyed it in short order. This is not really a priority for Republicans, it's only part of the culture war.

Well, at least they can feel good that they still get to irrationally hate people who ate different than them.

This is literally the first political article I am reading since the elections and I can’t stand it.

Don’t get me wrong, I usually love reading about politics and the article is great, Lisa Needham is an insightful writer, but I can feel my anxiety level going up every time I read something about project 2025 and Trump…

And I know, it’s been 4 weeks and some people would say I should get myself together.

The fact is that I am over the shock of his re-election and I accepted the results, as disappointing as they were, but I am also very worried about the next 4 years. Everything I read or watch about the next administration makes my anxiety level go through the roof. I think I need to protect myself because his term hasn’t even started.

"Project 2025" was published in April 2023 by The Heritage Foundation, apparently written by hundreds of conservatives but most prominently Donald Trump's former administration officials. It was not written by Trump - who can barely sign his own name - but by a coalition of Trumpers, MAGAs, and other conservative organizations. It discusses the future of the USA with Trump as the leader.

in 1925, nearly 100 years ago, "Mein Kampf" was published. It was an autobiographical manifesto that "describes the process by whcih Hitler became antisemitic and outlines his political ideology and future "take over" plans for Germany withj Hitler as the leader." (Wikipedia)

Published in 1997, "The Foundations of Geopolitics" primarily written by Aleksandr Dugin, but Putin was presumed to be the ghost writer because Vladimir Putin's presidential goals and the post-communist future for Russia as a dictatorship with Putin as the leader. These Russian goals - similar to Hitler's book and Project 2025 - discuss the annihilation of other countries (Ukraine), the destruction of the United States democracy from within, a take-over of France and Germany, a return of Russia to it's pre-NATO border days, and a re-establishment of Russia to the glory days of the Soviet Union.

To restore Russia to the USSR timeframe, Putin intends to replicate that Soviet model and place a leader in other countries who is loyal to Russia. In the United States, this leader is Donald Trump and in France the leader would be Marie LePen. Both these individuals have accepted multi-million dollar loans from Russia's shoadowy finance world. (The Washington Post)

Russian banks, who are managed by the FSB, give loans to foreigners to laundry black cash or to bribe a foreigner to work for Russia. Both Trump's sons have bragged about receiving $100 million from Russian banks. (www.vanietyfair.com, www.businessinsider.com) Maris LePen in France received about $10 million.

Project 2025 is not dissimilar from "Mein Kampf" published in 1925 (Germany) or from "The Foundations of Geopolitics" published in 1997 (Russia). It's truly very simple - each book imposes the will of one man on the millions of others in a society.

Putin spent his KGB spy years in East Germany where people were still loyal to Hitler's philosophical thought. He returned to Russia and became the second President of Russia and the current ruthless worldwide tyrannical leader. Rapidly, eighty-plus independent reporters were killed in contract-style murders as he assumed control of all media and information. I know this because I lived and worked in Russia and surrounding areas for twenty years.

Catherine Belton, a writer for Financial Times, wrote "Putin's People" in 2020 - which is the same year I published "From Democracy to Democrazy". She said "My book began as an effort to trace the takeover of the Russian economy by Putin's former KGB associates. But it became an investigation into something more pernicious than that. First reseach = then events - showed that the kleptocracy of the Putin-era was aimed at something more than just filling the pockets of the president's friends. What emerged as a result of the KGB takeover of the economy and the country's political and legal systems - was a regime in which the billions of dollars at Putin's cronies' dispose were to be actively used to undermine and corrupt the institutions and democracies of the West."

The 2020 U.S. Census told us that there are over 3 million Russian citizens living in the United States. They are not here to pledge allegiance to our flag or our Constitution.

Trump was easy to corrupt. The Russians used sex, women, and money. I lived in Moscow, Russia during this timeframe and knew what was happening. My oldest daughter was the manager of the Beverly Hills nighclub, casino, and restaurant - known for it's corruption, naked women, and famous faces. Donald Trump was one of those faces and my daughter witnessed Trump's visits. Lize was in Tokyo in the fall of 2016 - a few months before the U.S. election and when Trump was bribing women to hide his discretions and his judiciousness. The Tokyo Police ruled my daughter's death a homicide by an unknown substance - a poison.

In 2023, Cassidy Hutchinson mentioned that Trump said "he is terrified of being poisoned." (The Hill, October 5, 2023). Russian contract killers have been known to poison a long list of Russia's foes including Alexei Navalny. This is almost ad admission of Trump's guilt of his relationship with Russia.

In 2017, Boris Volodarsky published "The KGB Poison Factory." His book reveals that "since 2017, beginning with Lenin and his special operations called Cheka, predecessor of the KGB, the Russian intelligence services have regul;arly carried out bespoke poisoning murders and operations all over the world in order to eliminate the enemies of the Kremlin. These poisonings continue today.

Donald Trump is an incredibly ignorant American, who went to Russia once too often to "play." He was caught in a typical Russian spy trap without understanding the consequences. Once he was presumbly shown the bribery evidence in 2018 at the Helsinki Summit, he began to realize that his life or that of his family could be at stake. It was only a few months after he lost the 2020 election that Ivana Trump Trump died - supposedly an accident, but then that is exactly how Russian contract killers work.

Project 2025 is a guideline to convert our democracy into a one-man show. U.S. taxpayer money will disappear and be diverted to spend as Trump wishes - a man who has filed six bankruptcies, was convicted of bsuiness fraud with his tax, business, and personal records as indisputiable evidence, was found guilty of 34 counts of felony to cover-up his bribes to women, and also adjucated and legally found to be a sexual predator.

Project 2025 will change our country, our government, and our way of life in a short period of time - and this transformation will begin in 2025.

Agent Orange's Mafia mandate. He's structuring his orbit like a Mob Boss. Just like he ran his companies. That hasn't changed. His underboss is Elon Musk. One of his captain's is JD Vance. The rest are his soldiers. The head of the family is Putin.

The new Gilded Age is here. The Mob neoliberal oligarchs are winning. Voters will vote against their own best interests every day. As with their rage over having to wear seatbelts to save their own stupid ass. Apathy and greed on all sides allowed this to happen.

It’s naive to think that Trump voters were hoodwinked by Trump’s disavowal of Project 2025 on the campaign trail. We have a captured class of Republican voters who simply cannot incorporate any negative information about Trump or Republicans or positive information about Democrats into their decision making process. Essentially, whatever was said on the campaign trail by either candidate was irrelevant to 98% (my number) of voters who vote in this country. And the number of voters in 2024 is fewer than in 2020. So we also have a whole class of citizens who simply cannot engage in the most basic responsibility of a citizen in a democracy and vote at all and the most of us are simply not able to process all the things that were said on the campaign trail. And if you’re a Republicans voter and you hear Democrats complaining about Project 2025, you reject their complaints out of hand because you do not see Democrats or ‘liberal media’ as credible. It’s not the media’s fault. It’s that there’s only so much time in the day and most people simply do not have the time or interest in following the campaigns, but most importantly, they do not trust Democratic or most media sources. Will the dystopia that’s coming make them regret their decision or wake up and accept responsibility for what’s about to happen? Unlikely. They’ll manage to maintain that the dystopia is Biden’s fault because that’s how fried 75 million Americans’ brains are. If anything, those 75 million Americans will feel gleeful that more people will suffer just like they perceive (correctly or not) they’ve been suffering and left behind (rural America). The only way to eliminate Trump as a candidate for president in 2024 was to impeach and convict him in 2021 of high crimes and misdemeanors. But the Republican leaders in the Senate did not have the courage or integrity or patriotism to do so. And now many of those same Republican Senators will capitulate and approve all his cabinet picks and then the process of dismantling the federal government and purging the country of immigrants will begin. Because Republican Senators led by Mitch McConnell have been pushing the boundaries of the law and expectations to see if Democrats will push back. Democrats fold too easily in the name of restraint (Obama) and bipartisanship (Obama) and national security (Gore) and tradition (Biden). So let’s stop insisting this is a messaging or media or purposeful deception problem. America has a mental pathology problem. Americans keep voting to give more power to a political party that has proven for decades that it is not at all interested in correctly identifying problems, much less solving them. All of us are trapped now in a system that if it were a business, we would say that the business model was unsustainable. I highly recommend the book Antidemocratic by David Daley to learn just how the ideological corruption has been chipping away at the American ideal for decades, slowly lowering Americans expectations of what they can do, what their government can do, so that now Americans’ expectations is so low that 75 million of us folded and handed reigns to Trump, Musk, Thiel, Vance, Putin, et al to burn it all down, I mean to make it more efficient so that Americans will no longer have to pay federal income tax. I mean the mental pathology is just stunning and heartbreaking and disgusting and, ultimately self-destructive. But that’s where we are.

I think you're 100% right about our fellow citizens. Entire states are captured by Republicans because voters won't even engage their brains for two seconds - it's tribalism at its most extreme. Their legislatures actively work to produce worse outcomes for them yet they gleefully lap it up, as long as there is someone else to bash or blame. Democrats do fold too easily and that only makes things worse - these voters respect/crave/desire strength, some sort of strong man daddy to punish the people they hate. Not sure if pushback would cow them or make their bloodlust worse.

Starting in 2015, several allied foreign intelligence agencies began reporting secret contacts between Trump and his campaigners and who are known or suspected Russian agents in multiple European cities.”

I knew from the moment Trump began to distance himself from P2025 that he was lying. The more vocally he denied/lied, the more I became convinced this was absolutely the plan. The Harris campaign made an admirable effort to point this out, and to share details, but the public, seemingly unable to grasp anything more complex than crazy orange man good/black lady bad, blithely walked off a cliff anyway.

I know its become almost cliche to just shrug and welcome people to the hellscape they seem to crave, but... give the people what they want, I guess. I'm personally terrified of what these policies look like in the real world, not policy fever dreams fueled by too much red bull and MuskTwitter engagement, the media, personnel and education components especially. Block grants? We'll have entire states of illiterates that get nothing more than a religious education. An online university funded by money taken by punishing legit universities? Sounds like a right wing propaganda Trump University (and you know that's what they'll call it, past connections to fraud be...). Ugh.

It may be a trifecta but not a very big one. One thing: Cabinet members are impeachable. Not now, as a practical matter, but by 2026 things may change drastically.
