Two questions, Liz. One, why was the case filed in DC? Two, I have heard that defendants, such as Alex Jones, who have been found liable for defamation simply refuse to pay. Why don’t the courts seize and distribute assets to the victims? And while we don’t imprison debtors who can’t pay, why not imprison the uncooperative for contempt? Would that take a second trial?
1 -- DC is the proper venue because that is where Rudy made many of his defamatory statements and is also where OAN was running its election coverage
2 -- It's not that Jones "refuses to pay," it's that he filed for bankruptcy. Liz says this will delay him having to pay out, but he will probably have to fork over some damages over eventually.

America's Mayor, indeed. It's amazing how high these nefarious characters go before they fall. Do they turn starting out first on the good side, pulling the wool over our eyes, or do they succumb to power and become or collect helper cronies? The fall is truly pathetic to read especially with that ubiquitously used photo of Giuliani in the spotlight with the hair dye and sweat dripping down.
We have to prevail against Trump and these sub-Trump helpers one by one. But the oxygen they take!
One of the saddest public commentaries on this subject was Giuliani's own daughter's statement, I believe at least a year ago, that her father is truly mentally ill, and that his behavior embarrassed her. He had a notable career, and then it was as if he flew too close to the sun and it melted his brain.
I'm pretty sure a President can only pardon for federal criminal offences and this is a civil court case and hence nothing to pardon. Perhaps a lawyer could answer this definitively.

Why is Rudy behaving this way? He's an old white male ('nuf said). He probably thinks that since Trump has gotten away with this type of behavior he can too. Interesting, Trump is also going through the same thing, for different reasons, in the NYC case for lying and cheating on his financial statements. So many of Trump's sycophants don't understand that Trump is treated differently because he's a former President and he gets a slightly higher caliber of attorneys to do the fighting for him. It isn't right, but that's how it works. Trump can also fund raise and have the PACs pay his bills. Truly, I hope Rudy testifies as it will help to make the damage award all the larger. Rudy, like Trump, will demonstrate his arrogance and bigotry; he can't help himself.
