Dear readers,
Whether you’re American or not, I want to share a quick note of thanks. This has obviously been a difficult month for those of us striving for a better world, but I believe that on Thanksgiving it’s important to take a moment and appreciate the good things in life. Among them for me is this newsletter, which would be nothing without my wonderful readers.
Whether you’ve been reading Public Notice for more than three years or just started during the campaign, thank you. Putting this newsletter together day in and day out is gratifying even during tough times, and I hope our coverage brings some clarity and depth to your understanding of the world. I’m grateful to have such a high caliber audience that I often find myself reading the comments and learning from them. It’s certainly a telling contrast from many other news sites that have opted to turn off comments entirely.
Whatever the next year brings, my commitment to you is that our coverage will be inspired by the same bedrock values we’ve had from the start — truth, justice, and democracy. We’ll continue working hard to hold government accountable and make sure readers see the big picture of American politics. And we’ll do our best to try to have some fun along the way where we can.
As a little thank you, I have a special offer for folks who have been enjoying the newsletter but haven’t yet signed up for a paid subscription. Click the button below to sign up for a full annual subscription to Public Notice for the special discounted price of $40.
A paid subscription gets you access to everything we publish, commenting privileges, and starting next week will also provide you with access to weekly chats I’ll be doing with readers on the Substack app. And perhaps most importantly, paid subscribers make Public Notice possible. (Feel free to shoot me an email if you’d like a paid subscription but can’t afford one even at the lower price point — I’m happy to comp subscriptions to folks on tight budgets.)
I’m happy to report that going independent was one of the best choices I’ve made in my career. Especially now, when writing without fear or favor is of vital importance, I’m grateful to be able to cover American politics on my own terms, with a team that consistently does fantastic work and makes it seem easy. Thank you for coming along for the ride.
Here’s to a happy holiday weekend and taking a moment to be grateful for the good things.
Cheers,
Aaron
