Nikki Haley's inauthenticity is symbolic of Republican incentive structures that became too comfortable with misleading one segment of voters through fear and other emotions while enriching another segment of voters at the expense of the aforementioned group.

It is perhaps a small measure of cosmic justice that, after insisting we are not and have never been a racist nation, Haley is experiencing the equivalent of Trump saying 'bet?' and appealing to the racist portions of the GOP to squelch her campaign. If we have never been a racist nation, where did all these racists come from?

I ;haven't closely followed the Republican primaries because it was depressingly clear that Trump had it in the bag some time ago. So it came as a shock to read that ANYONE (let alone someone presenting as 'moderate) could criticize de Santis and his 'don't say gay' laws as 'not going far enough.' Man, I'm still struggling to get my head around that one!

Me too. And that comment just seemed to slip by most of the mainstream media. I'm not blaming them, because there's SO MUCH, but it does seem like a comment that potential undecideds should be aware of.

You should blame MSM! They are not doing their jobs. They

are not putting these people

in hard corners over their

comments.

So, Biden and Trump are the candidates. Trump should not be because as an officer of the government he fomented an insurrection and sold our secrets to enemy governments. Trump should be tried for treason. If Trump had not been so successful in continuing to foment insurrection and intimidation, we would have more states having the courage to remove him from the ballot. Fascism is apparently popular in this country, as it is rising in Europe too. NO LESSONS learned from watching Putin, other than to follow his lead, or Putin light Viktor Orbán. Third party spoiler candidates should be the only candidates that Biden is running against.

She demeans women every day, from her support of a 6-week abortion ban to lack of support for the LGBTQ and non-white communities to stating that her heels are "ammunition". (Who exactly is she going to kick and spike with them? I want to know.)

“Haley … is not as worried about taking on Trump as she is wary … of confronting the bigotry and intolerance that permeates much of the base of the Republican Party.“

If one hasn’t been paying attention, Lurie’s whole post is distilled at the end 👆🏼… but the Guardian’s link included 2/3 of the way through prove the point by Haley herself. Disqualifying.

As is every element of GOP leadership and 2024 candidacy. I wonder how that party rebuilds to reassert itself in a two party system? The Democrats took 80 years or so… I won’t be here, but it’s an interesting thought exercise.

"Consensus" is a word I heard Hillary Rodham Clinton, Queen of NeoLib Evil, say a LOT.

I didn't buy it coming from that Republican-in-all-but-name Hillary, so why would I find it more enticing coming from a Republican who DIDN'T cynically switch sides like Nikki Haley?
