I can only hope that people won't sit on their hands in '24 because they'd prefer an alternative to Biden. There is no way I can vote for any Republican candidate. While I'd love a new and younger Dem option - the alternative is worse. Take care and glad to hear your daughter is feeling better soon - and you can catch up on some sleep.

Great parenting and medical care! I’m sending good thoughts for Mia’s recovery. Ask about ear tubes for her. It was super easy and beat the ear infections in my son.

Regarding Williamson:she is a menace. The Nation was promoting her years ago while she was challenging Rep. Henry Waxman, that era’s environmental leader in the House. I canceled my subscription at that time so can’t say whether they still think she is qualified to run for office. Please keep revealing her nuttiness. She is missing more than a few screws.

OK. You've got me convinced. Biden isn't going to lose sleep worrying over Marianne Williamson's candidacy.

I really loved watching Mia grow through your posts on Twitter, back when I followed you there. Take time to recover from the traumatic experience you've just been through. I'm sending all best wishes.

Agreed that Marianne Williamson will not be a serious challenger for either Party. But something mentioned here about the concern of daily deaths from Covid reminded me I had not kept up with my usual manic monitoring of the statistics. I pulled up the Worldometer Covid tracker and was surprised to see a downward trend on the 7 day average of Jan 22, 2023 of 538 deaths to yesterday of 115 deaths. So even though we are not back to zero for right now we are as low as we have been during the whole pandemic. This of course doesn't mean it is over but we are moving in the right direction. And it would be great if positive thinking were the cure to all the worlds woes but history shows it has never been the right answer. Sorry Marianne.

I like Marianne, but I agree that she should stay out of politics.

I’ve followed Marianne for years. Your mischaracterization of her in general and repeating every disingenuous miss statement about her it’s frankly sad.

If you can’t get nuance then don’t pretend you know.... like you I do have a sick (and disabled child) so I’m going to defer the point by point, but will only say why don’t you actually meet her and have a conversation-rather than attack someone who is saying we expect too little from our government. As a donor and supporter this piece is disappointing. I hope you daughter continues to heal.

Here's what I think about COVID. Most voters DGAF if it's still killing people. We cannot be roused to do anything about mass shootings of children, let alone something as abstract as a continuing COVID crisis. Granted Biden could maybe push it back into the front page, but at what cost to his popularity? It's tragic but true.

Oh wow! Precious Mia! I'm so glad she's on the mend. That's scary.

Based on clear polling data that the majority of the country doesn’t want Trump re-elected, and different but overlapping majority doesn’t want Biden re-elected (full transparency, I’m part of that overlap). With that being said, there’s clearly an appetite from a super majority of Americans to find an alternative. Unfortunately I see two different factions spinning up as alternatives. One of those is the Marianne faction and the other is the “No Labels” faction. No Labels seems to be the Manchin/Sinema wing backed by corporate lobbyists that are bankrolling it from the so-called “moderate” view (when in reality they’re just trying to stoke wall streets coffers). Marianne _seems_ to be more grassroots driven from the progressive side of the Democratic Party. The first is going the third party route, the latter is trying to work from within the party.

Given democracy et Al I’m all for having everyone in the room to duke out who has the best vision for this country and letting the voters decide. That said, I have no desire to continue the corporate stranglehold on Washington so I would prefer to do everything possible to avoid that.

I clearly don’t want Trump, for obvious reasons.

I would prefer someone other than Biden because I truly don’t think there’s enough energy behind him and his campaign to actually beat Trump this time around. It would be 2016 all over again with Trumpers energized and Dems largely indifferent. And it will be just enough to swing it back into trump’s grips.

Unfortunately 3/4 of the prospective factions seem to be in it for everyone except the working class of America. I truly believe that we need an FDR style candidate again to move us back into super majority politics rather than this coin flip/plurality world we have lived in since Reagan.

I don’t care if it’s Marianne. I don’t care who it is. I just want someone with those principles. But if not Marianne, who else is stepping up to the plate?

IMHO we need a progressive candidate like Marianne or Bernie (who has said he isn’t running) IN the Democrat’s tent, working from within during the primary process to drive the Dem’s agenda further left and away from corporate lobbyists in order to gin up excitement and drive people to the polls (to vote FOR something, not just against Trump). I think the Dem’s would be working right into Trump’s hands if they stay on their current trajectory.

That’s an unfortunate picture you put up of Marianne Williamson. Makes her look like what she is not. Downtrodden.

As long as you don’t get her, your paraphrasing of the things she said misses the mark, misses her meaning snd will always miss it.

Take for example the anti vax question. I don’t know her thoughts on it but I’ll tell you mine: I’m all for vaccines. Not against them. But I’m not going to get one. It’s personal, not a political position.

She’s running. Just not against Biden. She’s pulling hard for leveling out the economic playing field. Plus she’s un-corruptible.

Maybe that makes some interests nervous.

I’m bummed to hear some of my favorite information gatherers ( like you) scoff at her looks, her style, her self help history, which, by the way, if you don’t help yourself rise, who will? Another prickly thing with me is the notion she’s a lightweight.

Let’s all just listen to her with an openness. See if she offers something we want and need. It might be that she does.

Thanks for all you do, Aaron and sorry to hear about Mia - so glad she's ok.

And Williamson - good on you for presenting a fair analysis. I think she's a TOTAL grifter and will go the way of Yang and Gabbard.
