White, straight, "Christian" males want a country ruled by their distorted view of religion because it will also keep in place the hierarchy of their dominance. It really isn't about religion. Like all abuse, it's about control.
Sorry, I don’t get it. The “originalist” view of the Constitution is the first sentence of the first amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”. How is making a case to Alito and Thomas about originalism when that sentence IS the original one?
This whole exercise reflects very badly on individuals pushing it but it's hard to see kids from secular homes being influenced towards Christianity (or for that matter Judiasm) by exposure to the 10 commandments printed out and displayed prominently. It may be the thin edge of a wedge but the state paying for narrow religous schools is a waste of tax payers money but it doesn't do great harm. The overturning of the right to Abortion (and I write as an impregnatable male) is in another category altogether. REAL AND SERIOUS HARM is happening right now to surely thousands of women because of it. I respectfully suggest to devout securalists that energy spent fighting this is misplaced if it takes away from hammering abortion rights (and IVF and access to contraception which are all in the bigots sights).
“Christian” Nationalists are NOT true Christians! I truly believe that Jesus Christ would treat these frauds the same way He treated the money changers in the Temple. Matthew 21:12-13. Especially with the despicable price the convicted felon is charging for his copy of the Bible! The Gideon Society will give you one for free!
All the Governor of Louisiana needs to look like a successful, seedy used car salesman in that blue plaid suit is a pair of white, patent-leather shoes. Srsly. I think I once looked at a car being sold by a guy who looked just like that... and did NOT buy the car.
The Bremerton coach case is an excellent example of the Extremes actually breaking the commandment about false witness, as the coach did not engage in a moment of private prayer midfield. As a result, it didn't really rule on whether it "was not a violation of the First Amendment for a football coach at a public high school to lead students in an overtly Christian prayer at the 50-yard line. " The court just wanted us to THINK that the latter is what it held without actually addressing what would happen if a coach or teacher actually led students in overtly Christian prayer.
In this it is like Creative 303 which did NOT hold that a Christian website designer could refuse to design for a gay couple. It held that the website designer could not be forced to design a website against its values. It is valuable precedent for any suits requiring a hijab maker to sell rosaries. Other than that, it doesn't address what would happen if the gay couple completely accepted the Christian anti-gay content of the website. Had there BEEN a website design business, this could have been easily tested by a gay couple, in a burst of lovely irony, accepting just that. But of course there wasn't really such a website designer in place.

Sorry I meant 'unimpregnatable" male!!
Once again my homestate makes me ashamed to say I grew up there. And people wonder why I will never move back.
