The filing is not a legal strategy, it is a press release with a docket number, designed to signal grievance to the president who hired him.

He sued because he could not ignore the piece and could not laugh it off, and now the lawsuit is the better story.

Many bars have video cams so that they can protect themselves against various claims. Perhaps discovery would reveal the giddier side of Patel. Much like the celebration in Milan...

Fantastic piece as well as excellent work by The Atlantic, of which I'm a proud subscriber.

It's interesting when non-Trumps like Kash try and Trump their way out of their messes. Good luck, party boy.

Kash Patel has now invoked the Streisand Effect so everybody knows about the "breaching equipment" and the computer log-in freak out.

Chugging beers with the Olympic hockey team had already been widely shared.

Discovery would make it worse. Standing by for trump's verdict.

"Is Kash a good boy?"

The lawsuit will probably have the unintended effect of making the accusations remain in the public eye longer than the original article did. It may also expose the allegations to MAGAs who hadn't heard of it before. Seems like a dumb move.

Well, Koko, no one EVER accused Kashyap (emphasis on the YAP) of being a genius. Apparently, he is as impulsive, thoughtless and irresponsible as his audience of one (see illegal Iran War, tariffs, etc). At one time, K was in the running for being the first top regime/junta official to be fired although the vapid Noem won that prize.

The frustrating thing is that even when these idiots are given the axe, there are plenty of other incompetents and dangerous characters to take their places (see Todd Blanche, MMA veteran Markwayne Mullin to name two). Like Hillary said in 2016, we're dealing with a "basket of deplorables" although that moniker seems a bit quaint based on the past 15 months of madness.

These lawyers should be disciplined by bar associations for frivolous lawsuits.

Drunken Clown Patel embarrassed the United States on the world stage acting the frat-boy at the Olympics(where he was supposedly “on the job”….) I won’t be surprised if there’s lots of actual footage of his behavior, and lots of folks willing to attest to it…..

If there isn't a Greek or Latin named constellation that means collection of fools, there ought to be. I'd settle for similar phases from either language. I'll start looking in the DSM-5.

Wotta bunch a babies! Trump, Patel, Blanche, the fired Barbies, the SCOTUS Six—elites, all sequestered from actual people and all weighed down by grievance.

"Patel didn't file this...." -- key para. When we see office holders and public figures conduct themselves in a kp [ or djt ] manner, it makes us wonder how the country has ever actually functioned. This is pre-school behavior or domestic abusers at large.

I so deeply hope the judge won't dismiss it, just for fun.

Discovery: Line item bar invoices, paid on a government card (no doubt?), detailing purchases over multiple "sessions" at Ned's and the Poodle Room. "I was not drinking alone at the bar...."

Is PN going to tackle the SPLC lawsuit? That too seems a little bullshitty.
