We can but hope, though I think it more realistic that Democrats can reduce the Republican margin in the Senate and hope to win all three houses next Presidential one.
Nevertheless one key change helps the Democrats in the mid term that isn't talked about enough. Democrats have replaced Republicans as the party that does better with low turnout elections. Look at the way they have been over-performing in Special Elections!
That's not so good news in Presidential elections but definitely helps in the mid terms.
What worries me about Platner in Maine and Turek in Iowa is the media hype on the backstories of the two candidates. Such media hype gave us John Fetterman. Similar media hype gave us Kristen Sinema in Arizona. I hope that voters in the two states' primaries will look at quality of ideas and that there will be close scrutiny of their backgrounds and position on the issues. That would also mean doing the same with the candidates they are facing. Yes, Mills is 77, as the press endlessly reminds us, but can we get some coverage of where she stands on the issues and what she hopes to accomplish if elected? Lazy reporting by corporate media, which loves to reduce candidates to cliches, is one of the reasons we are in the current battle to prevent the erosion of democracy. Another reason is voters who let the corporate media do their thinking for them.
You must not see a path for Annie Andrews v Lindsey Graham in SC. I understand she’s a long shot, but I so wish he could lose his seat. Stephen Colbert teased that he might run since his contract will be done. Grasping onto straws here.
Democrats remain reticent to campaign on prosecuting the most corrupt administration in history. They should assure voters that if they take back control of Congress, they will start impeaching the administration, starting with Trump, Vance, and Bondi. They might go after Justice Thomas too. Everyone in the Trump administration has broken a host of laws - especially corruption.
Candidates should assert loudly that they would pass laws to neuter "Citizens United," a decision that gave the billionaire Trumpies the power to buy elections while impoverishing the entire country.
If the Democrats continue to shade these two goals when campaigning, they risk falling short of a routing majority in Congress. It risks signaling that they are still the "Sleepy Joe" party that lost the entire government to fascism.
Thanks for all you efforts this past year. Especially watching All. That. Television!

Dr. Annie Andrews is impressive. Stephen Colbert is also impressive, and like Al Franken in Minnesota, would bake a good senator.
