Aaron, you noted that DeSantis insisted the problem is ballot referendums, not abortion restrictions themselves. (Whatever you have to tell yourself!)

To me, what he is telling us is that where HIS mind goes is to controlling administrative processes in order to suppress the voice of citizens. We don’t have ballot referendums in North Carolina, and it will make it much harder to get ranked choice voting here. In Michigan, they put it on the ballot and citizens voted it in. We can’t do that here. The fact that this is DeSantis’ mindset demonstrates, yet again, his authoritarian tendencies. He will use all the tools at his disposal; he does not CARE what the voters want; only what HE wants.

The Republicans liked ballot initiatives just fine when they were about cutting taxes.

Stop torturing yourself Aaron! These debates don't matter except to provide further evidence that the Republicans don't have a sensible alternative to Trump and the whole movement is like a convention of clowns who've taken way too many of the angry pills!

Yes! This is the first time I’ve watched, and I missed most of Ramaswamy because I put him on mute. I’m actually shocked that the candidate I would choose from that group is Christie. He speaks clearly, tells the truth and makes logical sense. But I totally agree about Ramaswamy--could he be more grating?? And DeSantis. Just ugh. He is such a phony. It struck me this morning that the greatest animosity is between the Indian-Americans, for whatever reason. This group is a town full of losers. As Bruce would say.

Aaron,

I just submitted this to Frank Bruni's "For the Love of Sentences".

"Listening to Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, and Tim Scott talk about what they will do as president is a bit like me opining about how I plan to celebrate becoming an SI swimsuit model — in other words, it ain’t happening, so why waste time on it."

Are Republicans judging Trump completely differently than all the others? The others argue about policy and positions. Trump does not bother; he can say whatever he wants, or not say, coherent or not. He can do whatever. This is what is so confounding. I agree Ramaswamy is a first class jerk. I am sorry for you Aaron, having to keep track of him- actually all of them. Trump at least is, perversely, entertainment until you realize that this is about the presidency of the United States. We have come to this low. It's these people who keep reminding us of that, and ultimately Trump leading the pack enough so that he does not even have to appear... such disrespect for the voter. Such ignorance hate and resentment reflected in the current polling.

Meanwhile meth labs and fentanyl labs are being raided by cops all the time here in the good old USA. Tell me again, DeSantis, how drugs are coming from Mexico while your cops bust up labs like these. You gonna shoot them on sight too?

Yes, he's gonna.

I didn’t see all in there entirety, but I think Nikki Haley did the best job of talking about policy. Mind you, I will never vote for any of them. I would, however, like to call Nikki on one of her contentions--I’d like her to prove she can run in 5 inch stilettos. But mostly, I would like to live to see the day where we aren’t talking about what women candidates are wearing. (I realize I’m guilty as charged here--but Haley brought it up).

I was a little disappointed that Nikki didn’t take off her 5” stilettos and just walk over and start whacking him with them. Seemed like a decent opportunity.

Thank you for all you do, Aaron. I didn't watch the debate, but I watched some of your clips. IMO, he's a mini-Trump who just likes to hear himself speak.

At least one good thing happened last night--the Timberwolves won!!

Thanks Aaron. Nice accounting of the horrible event, and couldn't agree more about Vivek. Anyway, Christie was right - but he should've said his colleagues are actually just pro-fetus. What is being done to help the fetus once born? Natal care, child care, health insurance, Chips program, education, rehab - all stuff to cut as far as the MAGAts are concerned. Plus the AR-15 - still legal to purchase - in mass shooting situations, becomes the biggest abortion tool of all... killing droves of people LONG after they are born. Many of them children. Rethugs are not pro-life.

::Rethugs are not pro-life.::

No, they've never been. Christie might be a BIT better than the rest because he's had to appeal to NYC's Bridge&Tunnel voters, but he's too much like a leaf blowing in the wind, going wherever the polls take him....

Thank you for your service, Mr. Rupar. You are a gem.

Even my husband couldn't watch this swill last night, and he prides himself on watching all the "debates" (if you can call them that) for he is informed and conversant on what was being proposed by the candidates (even though he would NEVER vote for a Republican).

Watched MOST of your clips... I skipped the ones where Ramasmarmy was calling Zelenskyy a Nazi, and similar drivel. In fact, aside from the brief time from when my other account was permanently suspended to when I began to use our company account, I watch ALL your clips. I want you to know that you aren't bearing the torture alone. <3
