I can trace my ancestry on this side of the ocean to 1635 and 1637, and there are people in the southwest who can trace theirs back several generations earlier. Not to mention the people who can trace their ancestry back thousands of years, none of whom were Christians.

It's just plain factually incorrect that this is a Christian nation, and you don't have to hunt that far to find evidence, from the pens of the founders, to support this. Most of them weren't especially religious, and the Constitution pre-dates the nineteenth century revival movements that essentially created Christianity as we now think about it.
(Also, isn't Usha Vance Hindu? It's wild that Vance sometimes seems to be advocating for his own wife to be stripped of her civil rights.)
This also bothers me because I work in educational publishing, and TX and FL are the biggest textbook markets, so some of the odd stuff in their education standards finds its way into national books. (Which is to say, publishers make TX and FL editions because their standards are... unique but it's financially in publishers' interest to do so, but not all of that content gets revised out for the national or other state editions.) I'm guessing the standard changes will be litigated, because there's so much not just Christian but politically conservative bias in them. (The TX School Board has long been run by not especially learned conservatives who don't really understand history or science or how students learn and have instead been pushing their own agendas on TX students for decades, so this set of standards is not shocking to me, but it is bad for students.)

I find it odd that "Christianity" is the rallying cry of the day, yet no one has bothered to define WHICH 'flavor' of "Christianity" is the preferred version, as well as which version the founding fathers decreed (they didn't). My paternal grandfather, a Dutch immigrant in his early years, was excommunicated from both his family & his Christian Reformed church because he converted to Catholicism to marry my German Catholic grandmother. Other ancestors came over shortly after the Mayflower, and were related (a few brothers) to Mayflower passengers. I don't understand the emphasis on so-called "Christianity" when the people most loudly proclaiming their "Christian" values do not adhere to Christ's supposed teachings in the least.
