Thank you for talking about CPC’s today. I’d love more articles like this. Especially if you can interview folks who work in repro like Imani Gandy, Jess Pieklo, & Jessica Valenti.

I was 19, pregnant, & didn’t want to be. It was the late 90’s. I went to a cpc without knowing what it was. They showed me fake fetal development dolls. They tried to coerce me into staying pregnant. They took joy in telling me the local planned parenthood didn’t perform abortion. Then sneered at me when I insisted on getting an abortion. These places aren’t about helping women. Their “help” can come with a lot of strings attached. Like mandatory church attendance to get freaking diapers. These places do not care about women or their health care needs.

As both an RN and malpractice attorney, that misdiagnosed ectopic scared the hell out of me! Maybe it will take a few crushing malpractice claims to shut down the fake clinics. And yes, if they hold themselves out to be a medical practice - white coats and all - they can be sued for malpractice and practicing medicine without a license. Yikes.

American malpractice suits are definitely a mixed blessing but in this case it should be funded as performing an important public service.

Boo on the house shenanigans, moving is stressful even when things go well. When the situation goes sideways that's even more of a headache.

Very glad to see the 4 times a week schedule. I've come to rely on your writing and that of a few others to keep informed without being overwhelmed. I know a lot of people enjoy podcasts, but I've never gotten into them so for purely selfish reasons I'm glad you're concentrating on writing. 🙂

Love the way you engage us, giving us things we wouldn’t normally notice going on. I’m not a fan of any pod cast only because sometimes an hour leads to two trying to get the whole picture visually, which is the way I learn. But go for it, move to Jersey’s southern half, taxes are high but home prices in wonderful neighborhoods are very affordable compared to northern NJ and the train or drive to DC is a hop skip away. Biden did it everyday from Delaware which is only a 30 minute drive from here. Philadelphia is just across the bridge 10 minutes. NYC is only another hour away the other way. The air & beaches are clean, the pines are something to behold, don’t spread that around, we like it here even with the taxes. You can buy 3 houses in SNJ for the one offered in NJN. Bring the whole family, The pumpkin 🎃 stays north, thank GOD.

I can relate to your housing troubles. I am in another country, but due to slow work on part of contractors and poor planning, I am stuck here in a small apartment, sans family overseeing the work. Still, I cannot complain since I have a roof over my head, and my health, and my daughter who has just started college in another city in this country communicates with me pretty much daily in some small way and sometimes longer, which is more often than I was expecting. So, good luck with your living situation. Thanks for keeping the stories coming. Not only do I read them and often comment, but I share them with a sick cousin who takes much comfort from being about to "keep up," even though she is homebound.

I know free speech is precious but when opiniated zealots can give misinformation (or even disinformation ie. knowing that it's false) to vulnerable people on potentially life and death matters such as pregnancy options and do so with protection from the courts, than America has a problem. That they are being supported by tax payer dollars to do so is an obscenity. Genuinely honourable conservatives would not do this.

Been with you since the Vox days, sticking with you now. So sorry to hear about the house thing; that's incredibly frustrating & crushing, especially for a family with young'uns like yours. I will keep crossing fingers that things look up, that your mom is doing okay, and that you all stay healthy!!

I urge everyone to read Jessica Valenti’s fantastic Substack on abortion. She spends a lot time (and rightfully so) on these surreptitious religious indoctrination centers.

First--I applaud dropping the podcasts because I hate podcasts. MUCH better to be reading, and reading more of you is perfecto.

The failure of the clinic to detect a ectopic pregnancy makes me wonder--why aren't these people considered to be practicing medicine without a license? Certain if they were handing out legal advice the state bars would be on them like a shot. Probably just handing out general misinformation wouldn't be practicing medicine, but interpreting ultrasounds?

Possibly they can't be forced to state a simple fact per the Extremes--licensed or not really has little to do with belief--but can the state keep a list of unlicensed "abortion counseling" and buy ads on Google which show up on the searches?

I will look forward to the return of the Aaron Rupar Show but only in due time. Take all of that time to make things right, and your audience will be here waiting.

Don’t worry about the podcast, bring it back if you can, but concentrate on the writing. I prefer, as others have said, to read. Sorry too for your loss and the house boondoggle. Hang in there!

That sucks about the house issues. So stressful! Take care and we'll be waiting when you resume your pod.

Having grown up in the Evangelical church, many of these crisis pregnancy centers are run or staffed by people who do not know anything about healthcare. They know the talking points and repeat them. I'm for reasonable abortion laws, but I'm not a fan of abortion. But there is soooo much misinformation out there about abortion in the right wing community. Pro tip: abortion was not an issue on the right until their fight against desegregation in the South ultimately failed. They needed a new point to rally around and abortion became the Right's cause celebre - a respectable issue, unlike opposing desegregation. It's been nothing more than a political tool on the right. Women be damned.

As a subscriber, I am delighted that you are ending podcasts. They are useless wastes of time, especially if you spend "large chunks of Tuesday and Wednesday" to do them. I don't like podcasts because they dumb down reading reading skills. Do the right thing and continue to write about important topics in depth.

Actually I like podcasts but Aaron writes so well (better than his contributing writers in my opinion though none of them are bad) that I support his decision to sacrifice his podcast to up his writing output.
