The full answer is that 1) vaccines are overwhelming significant in avoiding serious illness and death, 2) vaccines are less effective in those with compromised immune systems, and 3) the chances that Gen Pwell would have died of Covid complications would have been drastically reduced if the US had reached herd immunity via vaccinations, people continued to wear masks in every indoor public space, and social distancing remained vigilant. The fact that all 3 bullet points are not reiterated 24/7 by the rest of the media is a collective indictment of media, not withstanding the bloodlust of FoxNews and the Murdochs.

I never understand why people are so scared of vaccine side effects. I mean, they go away. (Though I totally understand the hesitancy if time off from work to deal with them is a struggle.) Most of the time side effects aren't near as terrible as the disease the vax is preventing.

As I have felt for awhile now, my empathy for people who choose to listen to the likes of Fox opinionators is nearly zero. There is a torrent of reliable news/science/data supporting vaccines as well as social distancing when appropriate to help us all get out of this pandemic. I just avert my eyes, cover my ears and shrug my shoulders at the shrieking Fox/Q/Antivaxx of our world and continue to keep my eyes, ears and mind open to the developing science and keep myself and my family safe. We should not expect anything different from the right. Very unfortunate and infuriating.
