CBS has been a disaster since the Weisswascher in Chief took over there. (Note: Weiss is the German word for "white" so thought it fitting to use the German word for "washer" in making up an appropriate word to describe Bari Weiss.)

Love that Colbert put his show on YouTube and also "told it like it is".

Weiss means white in German= white watcher!

Heather Cox Richardson in her "Politics Chat" youtube 2/17/26 allows as to why Trump people, this administration , is so afraid of Talarico. He is attracting real Christians away from their faux Christian crowd and support of these radicals will collapse when that happens enough. Talarico is very good at flat out truth telling. This move by CBS/Weiss/Trump will get (is getting) Talarico *more* exposure. The appeal is to the good and love, the Christian message, not to hate division and LIES.

What’s also disturbing is that if Trump spends all his time on grievance and grift, who’s making all the other decisions? Stephen Miller?

I love watching these lackeys shoot themselves in the foot. You’d think they would learn😆🙄

Eliminating the DoE helps insure that they won’t.

Don't you just love it when a bomb ignited by them blows up in the faces of anti-free speech fascist goons? I guess candidate James Talarico should send the gestapo running CBS and the FCC bags of thank you notes. The stink caused by the lawyers at CBS regarding the FCC rule in question gave Mr. Talarico a level of exposure and air time that would have cost him millions.

Additionally, this situation gave Stephen Colbert even greater positive exposure during his final months on the air.

Years ago, the reputation of the news division of CBS was the envy of broadcasting. Its stature was built by notables such as Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite (dubbed America's most trusted person on TV in his heyday), Dan Rather, Ed Bradley, Leslie Stahl along with a long list of stellar reporters who made 60 Minutes the longest primetime TV show in our history at 57 years and counting.

However, on the other side of the coin we Boomers can remember CBS canceling The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1967-1969). It aired during the height of the Vietnam War and the show openly criticized the war, lampooned President Lyndon Johnson and spoke out against the heavy-handed pressure to control the content of the show by the FCC. The CBS suits feared that open criticism would lead the government to take action against their broadcasting license (sounds eerily familiar, does is not?). After pressure from above, the show was axed in April 1969.

So, the idea of government intimidation and suppression of free speech wasn't invented since T1.0 and T2.0 came along. However, the current iteration is just more blatant, dangerous, punitive and intended to be more universally threatening.

CBS and its weak leadership is becoming the victim of their lack of impartiality, credibility and its loss of all of its good talent because of it.

Interesting conversation HCRichardson had with Kate Barr of NC on youtube. She is running in the Republican race but clearly has a different mindset (more Democrat) than radical Trump Republicans. If she wins in the general race against the Democrat that may be okay or even a good thing.

I was done with CBS after they withheld the 60 min interview last year and I’ve watched 60 minutes for years. Why anyone is still watching is beyond me.

The problem with a party that promotes ignorance, is that it keeps making the sane mistakes. Colbert, really? Again?

Potter's avatar

same mistakes...

they can't shoot straight.. thankfully.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Guess they’re the ones mis-shooting on Fifth Avenue.

They are not smart.. They react with mean spirit more than they think.

They are afraid of Talarico for very obvious reasons. His forthright moral approach is attractive.

Plus, it’s a slap at his Democrat opponent Jasmine Crockett, a fierce Trump critic, by giving Talarico a boost in exposure.

On the face of this Democrats don't need this competition intra party, two great people Crockett and Talarico running for the same office. They need to sort this out or the voters will. Hopefully both will end up in the Congress.

Did Ms. Crockett give up her House seat?
