Why is no one talking about the VA being given permission to refuse service to Democrats and single persons. WTF?

I saw it in The Guardian and I think the Economic Times? But nowhere else. Is it true?

Politico also ran it. Waiting for my VA docs to answer my question about denial of care.

I'm pretty sure this was done to give individual doctors "freedom of conscience" in choosing who to treat, but it also lets doctors be FIRED for marital status, political party, etc. I am QUITE sure there wasn't a notice and comment period for making this change in the regs. But what's ignoring the APA when there are so many other laws to break?

Well that was interesting and good news that I'd never get from her in regional Australia. Let's hope the Supreme Court doesn't overturn it.

Ah, wishful thinking in the new ruleless 21st Century.

Do not understand why people of color in Trump's administration do not understand that these kinds of racist policies might affect them some day.

Apparently, loyalty and money can buy anything—ask Clarence Thomas, the original DEI hire gone rogue.

And if loyalty and money don’t cover it, there is also intimidation, threats, and outright lies to get what they want.

First, let's toast the lower court judiciary that in the last five months have emerged as the primary warriors for our democracy. No praise and gratitude is sufficient to honor them and we should never take them for granted.

As the initial consternation from all the rapid changes settles it seems to me that the majority of Americans didn't vote for racism or bigotry but the administration seemed to think it had a mandate to oppose DEI as a wrongful disuniting influence. They seemed to think that a unified "one nation, one people, one leader" theme was the best path to follow in the 21st century. How reminiscent of a truly evil 20th century regime and like their spiritual predecessor they will certainly fail. But will they pull the house down with them as they go? That's what I worry about.

Have we no shame? We no longer do. Not since the ascendancy of Trump. Nor honesty, nor decency, nor rationality. Racism always drove the GOP - especially after Nixon brought in the Dixiecrats - now it’s simply (somehow) more blatant.

Would like to suggest that Roy Cohn was the Trump lawyer, not really a mentor, for when Cohn was diagnosed with AIDS (then a death sentence), Trump flew out the door & left him to die alone. A true mentee doesn’t do that.

the administration appears to argue that anything related to minorities must be discrimination against whites, and thus "illegal" because of race. But SURELY the legislative history, if not the Civil Rights Laws themselves, show that they meant "race of a disadvantaged minority." There CAN be discrimination against whites, but it is as rare as voter fraud (particularly via fake Chinese car plates).
