It was breath takingly stupid to decide to use Amy's estranged mother given the publically available facts but that's almost a minor detail next to the moral disgrace of going with it.
I think Trump and Vivek R. have one thing in common. Absolutely massive personal wealth and an associated gross overconfidence in their judgement and I strongly suspect (I don't know Vivek's R MO that well) a tendency to surround themselves with yes men and women so their dumb whims never get challenged. In either case it's a disaster in politics and I feel that extreme wealth should be regarded as a political liability for pursuing a political career.
