How do you think Platner compares to Swalwell? I really fear where there's smoke there's fire and rumors swirled around Swalwell for years. But he had to resign and I feel that could happen if Platner wins. The real sh*t may not hit the fan until his vote is really needed. The worst case scenario is still, of course, Collins winning but the Swalwell scenario is certainly a possibility down the road if Platner is elected.
An excellent discussion. I appreciate the nuance on Platner, especially given how the pundits fell in love with him at the start and are unwilling to give him up. His "working class" background is actually a campaign and press fabrication, as he came from a well-to-do family and attended an elite prep school. This situation reminds me of a Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate who created a backstory of herself as a single mother living in a trailer who managed to put herself through law school. It was a compelling story, but it was false. She was the Democratic candidate in the general election, so I held my nose and voted for her, but I was not happy having to do so. It being Texas, she lost.
The other stories about Platner make it ten times worse.
Two things: Can we drop this term “weaponization?” It’s ugly, cumbersome. And does not express what is really at issue, that is, using government resources to persecute (NOT prosecute), citizens. I mean, are weapons always bad? The Army is plenty “weaponized!”
And second, did you plan to both wear dark Ts? Not a great visual.😖🙄🧐
