I can claim no illustrious ancestry nor am I progeny of great wealth but the hot blood of the revolutionary runs in my veins. If the men and women who besieged Boston and forced the British out with the rudimentary means at their disposal, we the people can do the same by the rules upon which this country was founded. Vote or die is the rallying cry.
Yes sir, Mr. Locatell: live free and vote or die. The very survival of a weary nation depends upon all good and decent people to grab the pitchforks and torches and storm the castle by ousting the MAGAts in the 2026 midterms. Of course, we must all be prepared for the loser Mad King to instruct his minions to attack the results of the upcoming election in the same way he did after his loss in the 2020 election. Can you just imagine the infamous 01/06/2021 insurrection being unleashed all over the country?
Comic book villains who, within just two years, have not just reduced this country to Vietnam era ridicule … but surpassed it. All for, let’s not forget, a sexual abuser of women and girls, and a consummate liar.
It's sobering to realize there is an endless supply of broken souls willing to endlessly debase themselves -- even now, when it's plain as day the regime is crumbling.
Excellent guide to stooges, but let’s not forget the ethics-free puppeteers: folks like Thiel, Miller, and Vought. They’re like a vitamin-charged slime, sliding through the administration and providing its energy, but leaving little trace.
One of my poster ideas for No Kings was to depict the 3 stooges of the apocalypse but it was impossible to narrow it down to 3. And it’s too true to be funny.
You make a key point that I think has been overlooked and that is that the billionaire class will readily sell itself out to the next wannabe dictator if it's good for them. I hope that some level-headed Congress people are trying to write laws that will insulate us against the abuses that have gone on in this hellish administration. Is it happening? Is Jamie Raskin on it?
"Blanche’s partners rejected the representation, apparently recoiling at the prospect of being associated with Trump’s ostentatious disdain for the legal system lawyers are charged with upholding. Blanche responded by resigning his partnership and creating an ad hoc law firm, along with another former federal prosecutor with a checkered past, Emil Bove, to represent Trump in what would soon become a plethora of criminal cases."
This seems like a pitch for a new legal drama series. Oh, yeah. This is the timeline on Earth 2.0.
The Trump regime has taught us, if we are paying attention at all, that ruthlessness can amass power over us. But, as David reminds us, most people are ruthless because they have no other competencies, and that is their Achilles heel, so to speak. Historically, the best way to avoid being conquered by the ruthless is to build a fortress with high concrete walls surrounded by a moat. Once we rid ourselves of the MAGAs, Democrats will have to focus on making America Great again. Not only will that require apologizing to the world whose trade we depend upon, but it also means repairing our democracy, building it back better - this time with effective guardrails that respond quickly and effectively to corruption of our national values and our treasure.
As a psychologist for over half a century, I and my colleagues are bewildered how serial failure Trump managed to con his way to a second failed presidency. Who voted for this and why? What is wrong with our democracy (and economy?) to motivate sufficient animus to allow emotions to overcome reason?
Has David Lurie read "Project 2025"? I fear he might be missing the point of Trump's bumbling presidency. The gazillionaires trying to roll our Country back to the 19th century probably view him as a "useful idiot" who is keeping our attention focused on his misdeeds while they advance their cause.
One other note, I hope that the previous compliant people now fully stating the obvious --Trump is unfit and dangerous as POTUS -- will become more prevalent as Ty Cobb makes his rounds on such shows as MS Now's The Beat (Ari Melber). Thank you Ty Cobb.

Yes, I can. I can imagine most anything nowadays
And we shall overcome, even that.

Thank you for this column David. How many have sold their souls to worship DT?

Make it stop.

Another (pseudo) high achiever, cheeto admin clone.
What could go wrong is the appropriate cliche-ish question?

A scathing takedown of the administration's "plethora of putzes". Brilliant!
Thank you.
It seems to me that the stooges should be prosecuted for treason and/or disbarred. Why should they get away with what they have done?
From the announcement of Blanche as DAG, I sensed he would be the real power at DOJ. He proved that with his actions regarding Epstein.
