Ask any woman who heard Trump roar "I love women" at that rally what their reaction was and I'll bet it was that when they hear someone speak like that they look for the exits and make sure they are never alone with that person. The men behind him laughed in that bar room kind of 'gotcha bro' way.

The sad part of this situation are all the spineless enablers in Congress that know he’s full of shit; they know there is absolutely zero election fraud, except for the fraud they themselves, are perpetrating, yet, they continue this ruse because there’s no way out for the party. They’ve sold their souls, jumped into the abyss, and now they’re stuck perpetuating this BIG LIE!

And apparently, they don’t care that they are destroying all of our election norms in the process; making our vulnerable republic into a sitting duck for continued exploitation by cheap snake oil salemen, whose only panacea for our ills, is to destroy our country from within.

Good Times!…:)

My hope is that this election is an absolute route and we can start the long process of dismantling MAGA. I wish I was more confident in that hope.

Regarding elections, I will never not advocate for universal vote by mail. It's virtually flawless in Oregon and has been for years. Even the GOP doesn't question it here (and we have some questionable GOP polls, for sure). No lines, 2 weeks to vote, postage-free mail or drop boxes, accessible, people can go to precinct office and vote in person, ballots are tracked and notifications sent by email/sms... what's not to love? Better enfranchising our houseless population would be one area of improvement, but I think that is a challenge no matter what. It's not surprising that other Western states have followed suit. Come on in to UVBM, folks, the voting's fine!

Washington state also has universal vote by mail, and I love it! I have a ritual of walking to the dropbox in my neighborhood and it feels a bit like the old days of Election Day voting without standing in line in the rain.

Me too. My drop box is down a steep hill, but it takes just a minute to get there, no need to park or get out of the car. Compare to the days of yore, when we went into a polling place, tried to find parking, stood in line (after we figured out which line was for our precinct so our name would be on the list), waited for a booth to clear, did our vote, maneuvered our way out of the parking lot.

I k ow they will steal this election. The question is will we let them do it this time? Where is the DOJ as Musk commits campaign violations in plain sight daily, and trump, who is a felon awaiting sentencing, continues to make threats against the left?

I'm an election worker (precinct clerk) in Massachusetts, and in my experience mail in ballots are faster to process than in-person voting. We get the mail-in/absentee ballots when the polls open, and then additional batches as the day goes on. We process them during lulls between in person voting - which are frequent. At the end of the day this comes down are there sufficient polls / poll workers to do the work? If we want results not to drag out over days the answer is more poll workers!

This year the outer envelope only requires the month and day -- 2024 is pre-printed. The signature line is evident. And the instructions that come with the ballot make it clear what is required.

If voting didn’t matter republicans wouldn’t work so hard to keep people from voting or having their votes counted.

Their ultimate goal is to destroy the system by any means necessary.

Have Republican shenanigans because necessary because dishonesty is now their common usage OR because Red candidates are unelectable?

I live in a state with all-mail-in voting that has worked well for years; sadly, not remotely a swing state. But I am befuddled by the attacks on technical aspects of the process. Missing signatures I get: that is how the vote is verified as being from you. But missing privacy envelopes? It is the voter's own privacy that is being "protected." Which would you rather: having someone maybe know who you voted for or having that vote not counted at all after you'd bothered to mail the envelope?

Same goes for the "misdated" envelope. The ballot either did or did not get to the vote counters on time. I guess the state laws require a date for the "penalty of perjury" rules, but if you sign on Wednesday and stick it in the mail on Thursday, how do they KNOW the date is "wrong?" What does the "perjury" signature add to a vote? (It clearly does for a registration; that's where you swear you are a citizen.) Once you are registered, it is the verification of signature that matters. Why do you also have to swear that you are who you say you are?

The conclusion can only be the one you make. The aim is not really to make sure a vote is "valid" but to discourage people from believing voting itself is valid.
