If the Democrats had any sense they'd be heavily publicizing just how much of the extra money earne in tarrifs will be spent on needlessly (it should never have been necessary) compensating farmers affected by utterly predictable retaliatory actions. I'd be very surprised if soybeans were the only industry affected.

As I was reading this article about Drumpf's irrational and idiotic obsession with tariffs, the thought occurred to me that is addressed later in the piece: he has no right to impose them. That's the job of Congress although the MAGAts remain compliant and dutifully submissive to the mad king's every whim. As we mourn the 1 week anniversary of the shameful rantings of the lunatic during his UN visit last Tuesday, our allies must look at the US with utter and complete bewilderment that the former leader of the free world (America) has gone stark raving mad. Alas, tis true.

Actually I think most dogs are a lot more endearing and even useful than our present Congress.

"Our farmers" are not just the small hard working folks that we imagine or that they sell us. A significant percent are high income, high wealth trump voters who knew exactly what they were getting. Taxpayer bailouts are built in to their business plan.

Thank you, Paul, for highlighting anther trump scam. Also, anyone with half a brain wouldn't have voted for trump.

75% of farmers voted for trump. They know where their bread is buttered. Farmers for trump are America's welfare kings. trump cut SNAP food aid to America's food insecure children, then pays trump welfare king farmers to bury their crops. Seems fair - especially if you hate feeding children nutritious meals. I do feel bad for honest farmers who didn't vote for trump, since they at least had the understanding that trump is bad news for business and damn near everything else. But my empathy for trump voters seeking bailouts has waned. Here's an idea, with trump at the helm, maybe farmers for trump can start a new career in trump's revitalized 'clean' coal mining agenda instead of begging for billions in bailouts.

So taxpayer have to pay more for food because of ignorant and unlawful trump tariffs and then bailout welfare king, trump worshiping, red state farmers? And that will happen when? Oh, after bailing out, at the cost of $20 billion, trump's maga, moron pal in Argentina? So much money for so many bailouts of trump cultists, yet so little for America's children, working class and middle class! I am getting so tired of winning!

"What that means is that the farmers will be insulated at least somewhat from the damage Trump’s foolish trade war did to them; in other words, they’ll get a bailout. The rest of us will pay for it. And the economy will get no benefit at all."

No - farmers will be insulated from the costs of their very actions - voting en masse for Trump who then destroyed their export markets. We are collectively enabling farmers to vote for Trump, then get bailouts when his policies hurt them.

Let's face it; farming is and has been a government run operation; without government subsidies milk would cost $20 a gallon and no American farmer could compete abroad.

Bail out? Well, of course! P. T. Barnum had it right—a sucker born every minute, Trump’s preferred audience … and cult. AND they fell for it, even after Trump 1.0. Trust a con man? Sure!

Did you see Keith Bessent on some right-wing propaganda network last week? He said that, at the conference in Geneva in May 2025 (read that again...May 2025) he asked a China representative why they stopped buying soybeans from us. Bessent said that the answer was one word: Biden.

They really do think were idiots.

Truly amazing, trumpy bankrupts the farmers, blames the Chinese, & the taxpayer has to bail them out. The farmers worship him because they have the delusional believe that he's a good Christian plus he'll let them have as many guns as they want.
