The fly in the ointment is that if you repeat a lie often enough people begin to believe it. Trump has knowingly used this tactic all his career. The more such a liar is debunked the more publicity the liar gets. It's a bit of a paradox.

Goebbels to Hitler. Used by every propagandist. And of course the orange sadist kept "Mein Kampf" next to his bed -- the only book ever there -- for the years Ivana was married to him.

Yeah. I remember from his 1st term how Lourdestown was supposed to stay open & Carrier was supposed to stay in the US.

& then there were his 4 casinos, Trump U, all the lies he told about his various properties that were revealed in court.

Lathe4, rinse & repeat.

The gist of this piece is this: if the mouth is moving, Drumpf is lying.

Yes, I heard that he was caught red-handed nodding off at a summit in Saudi Arabia last week. Too bad we can't make that nodding off permanent. Carma is a bitch: Sleepy Joe becomes Nodding Donald. Sometimes what goes around comes back around and bites some of us in the ass. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving asshole.

Thank you. I am but a few years older. Surely you must have watched - on black-and-white tv - the slow progress of the Sixties—the civil rights protests, the war protests, the slow emergence of gay rights, the ERA, all that. And now, “all that” is being destroyed before our very eyes. I despair.

Yes, I watched history unfold on the B/W TV in our den. Of course, growing up in the South, I was all too familiar with the historic and systemic racism that existed for 100 years that forced Black people to rise up and challenge the status quo. I can recall going to the fall fair in my home town and seeing bathrooms for men, women and colored. Going to the movies in the 60s, Black people used a separate door that did allow them access to the lobby. They were forced to sit in the balcony while whites sat on the main floor. This was the era of America's apartheid. Thankfully, there has been tremendous progress made since then although there is still much to be done. In terms of LGBTQ+ rights, I never thought I would live to see the day that gay marriage would be legal in the US, that the most articulate person in the Biden cabinet would be a gay, married man with a child and that the bondage of the closet would be lose its power. It is appalling that the current regime/junta has put targets on the backs of trans people to whip up the basest of their cruel base with lies and bigotry.

Don't get me wrong, we are clearly facing tremendous challenges to our democracy, the rule of law, due process. T2.0 is far more heinous that the first but we must stand strong and be vigilant by supporting organizations such as the ACLU, HRC among others. At this time, I realize it is easy to lose hope but if we do, they win. They cannot win.

Joe is also a decent human being who has genuine empathy for others unlike the agent orange faced narcissist who cares about one person and one person only: his putrid self.

BTW I enjoyed reading your mini bio. SF is a stunningly gorgeous city I've visited several times. I am a fairly youthful 72 year old gay, agnostic Episcopalian who landed in Lake Charles, LA for a job in 1985. I had no intentions of staying but here I am. I am an anti-MAGAt blue dot in a sea of blood red. We have a power hungry Drumpf clone for a governor who I loathe and despise. At least 4 constitutional amendments he wanted to pass were soundly defeated this spring. On les aura!!

When media corporations simply repeat Trump's outrageous numbers, without looking under the hood (or hiding fact checking in the 15th paragraph), they are simply doing PR for Trump.

I'm so completely, utterly nauseated by his continuous lying, exaggeration, bravado and bullshit, I really can't believe I've had to relinquish the last 10 years of my life to this buffoon. Every.Single.Day. he's out there, spewing lies, exaggerations, threats, misinformation. I'm quite a bit younger than him and have some serious health issues but man, I hope I live to see the day that he passes to the (in his case) no so sweet hereafter. I'm will - no joke - be dancing in the streets - and I hate dancing. His national day of remembrance will be my personal national day of celebration.

Smoke and mirrors that corp media, a propaganda arm of the trump regime, repeats verbatim. Corp media is broken beyond repair. They cannot be counted on to conduct unfiltered journalism. They are beyond hope and every effort should be made to steer news consumers away from them and toward independent media. Democracy cannot survive if they are allowed to control the narrative.

Trump’s deals aren’t just exaggerations. They’re lies, just like much of his pronouncements have been. And there’s so little trickling down to our citizens. Instead it lines his pockets and those of his family. The tariff’s trickery is pure Trump manipulation. It all must be called out and stopped.

The man stinks, both from his dirty diapers and from every lie that comes out of his anus-mouth. Don't believe a single word he says. (Disgracefully, MSM did for three years -- despite CLEAR evidence to the contrary -- which plays a huge role in why we are where we are now.) P.S. Forgive my French. I apologize if I have offended you. Not joking.

I think it's actually pretty simple: Trump lies because he learned during his first term that he can. And the media is too afraid of him to point out his bullshit for what it is.
