I apologize to readers for the later-than-normal publication time this morning. There was an issue (my fault) scheduling the newsletter last night that I didn't catch until I was awake this morning and realized it hadn't gone out. I appreciate your patience!

Aaron, no apology is necessary. PN is one of my first "must-reads" every morning regardless of when it arrives.

Same! Right along with Heather Cox Richardson, who often quotes PN. Hang in there, Aaron, and come back to the Pacific Northwest anytime you need a change of scenery ⭐️💙⭐️

My first 2 reads in the morning as well!

I hate this timeline. November can't come soon enough. Now I'm off to make a donation to the SPLC.

Todd Blanche is trying his case in the media, though. Should we assume that this is the only venue? That the entire point of the former Department of Justice is to undermine the public support for antiracism work? In line with the white nationalist agenda of the Heritage Foundation?

Another Trump troglodyte whose shamelessness knows no bounds.

He and Patel have been all over the media talking about their indictment but going beyond the allegations in the document—in a fashion strictly prohibited by the Code of Professional Responsibility. (I only know this from clips rebroadcast in social media).

They’ve been doing disbarment level stuff. I have to assume that each of them has made peace with this

Like you, I am wondering why all these fascist attorneys filing frivilous lawsuits are not disciplined by their bar associations.

Proud long-time SPLC supporter (since 1983). Just made an extra 2026 donation.

This story makes one wonder if Bugeyes Patel ever looks in the mirror.

Alexandra's avatar

I was thinking the very same thing. Does he think he is white?

Tomonthebeach's avatar

Clarence Thomas does. Why not Kash. Do two Oreos make an Alt-Right?

Alexandra's avatar

Please stop referring to them as “conservative!” They are fascist.

Upon hearing about the indictment I immediately made a contribution to SPLC. They’re on my regular rotation, and I can’t give much, but together we fight hatred and injustice.

Susitrav's avatar

I too have supported them over the years, and I made a donation recently for '26.👊👊👊

Targeting the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC): Check this map of the hate groups that Trump is trying to protect.

Incredibly sad and stupid to go after SPLC, one of the good guys. Racism has been the #1 plank in the GOP campaign platform since 2015.

I laughed out loud when I read this. This is the most preposterous, the most ludicrous, and the dumbest charge the Trump DOJ and Kash Patel have ever made. Do Blanche and Patel really think all judges are as dumb as Aileen Cannon? I’m heading over to the SPLC to make a donation now!

The quote from Blanche that HE didn't allege it, the grand jury did is......to be kind, ridiculous. The grand jury heard the prosecution's presentation of the case, which was alleged by the DOJ. Thus, in essense, Blanche DID allege it.

I'm so tired of these knuckleheads treating us like we're stupid.

Here is a more direct reason for the attack on SPLC: they did an expose on a canonized patron saint of the GOP in their report "Year in Hate and Extremism" in 2024. The FBI Director called the saint a "brother" and said they will "meet again in Valhalla". I suspect that this comment is blocked if I name the saint or his group. (?)

Here is a more direct reason for the attack on SPLC: they did a detailed case study on TPUSA in their report "Year in Hate and Extremism" in 2024. Kash wants this scalp to bring to his brother Charlie Kirk when they meet again in Valhalla.

No surprise: America First means America White … MAWA!

Deborah solleveld's avatar

Problem is it never was so how can it be “again”?

David J. Sharp's avatar

In the 1950s it certainly was … for those in power. As I recall - I was born in 1950 - the three great enemies to America (as promoted by the John Birch Society) were the Negro (but not capitalized), the Jew and the Roman Catholic (particularly those from Southern Italy).

But not the majority and today getting smaller relatively by the day which terrifies them. They think they will be treated the way they treated others. They deserve it but most don’t live that way

David J. Sharp's avatar

Most excellent point! They can dish it out - hiding safely behind others - but cannot take it. Their new world, the mixed one, must terrify.
