Much more worrisome than the sad spectacle of a dying man is the abject failure of anybody, even his family, to help him. He is being abused by the Republican sociopaths to forward their Christofascistic agenda, and by his family to line their ample pockets. Retribution for this may not be swift, but it must be thorough.

Same ole deflection playbook...something, something, something...Joe Biden. If only Trump was held to the same standard. Looking at you, Jake Tappers of the Press...

kdsherpa's avatar

Using a word that the orange pedophilic sadist throws around, Jake Tapper is a "traitor." The fact that he is STILL focusing on Joe and Jill Biden is sick. Why he is still an anchor on CNN is beyond me. (I was never sure why, but he always turned my stomach.)

Yes! This is so bad.

You are absolutely correct, and the sad correlation to “Weekend at Bernie’s” isn’t funny in the slightest. Obviously, the arrogant egos in his family don’t care about him personally, only financially, any more than he cares about them. They all just continue to use each other to claw more money.

I follow Aaron's posts every day because I don't watch Fox News and I'm not on his social media app. I am aware of the efforts of the healthcare professionals referenced here.

It's safe to say that we know that the president is seriously unwell. It's not well hidden at all. No efforts to get accurate information to the public have resulted in anything meaningful. I no longer wait for information, I just want this awful mess to be over.

“… asking aides to explain to him what the orders being placed in front of him actually did.

After listening to a lengthy explanation of an order that would expand the number of federal employees who can be fired by him, Trump still didn’t quite understand.

“And the reason for this was, what? Whose idea was that?” he said.”

That’s the truly terrifying part.

Worse still is that he signed it—an order that will further destroy our Civil Service.

Dr. Brandy X. Lee and her colleagues laid out the case for Trump’s mental illness perfectly in “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump”. It was published seemingly so long ago in 2019. I haven’t read her follow up book because her first book was so convincing.

The Dark Triad is a psychological theory describing three malevolent personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. Individuals with these traits are characterized by callousness, manipulation, a lack of empathy, and a willingness to exploit others for personal gain (from Wikipedia). People who are at the extreme end of the Triad are untreatable.

Trump is the poster child of the Dark Triad. He surrounds himself with weaker versions of himself, most of whom also have some level of the Dark Triad. They also are broken, hollow people. There is no reasoning with these people. None. The thing is, our society doesn’t learn about these things. Psychology and psychiatry remain taboo subjects. {sigh}

Before and after Trump's first election, my father would occasionally bring up some event of the day. I was usually on my desktop when I would be talking with him so I could do some fact checking as necessary. I once told him that Trump was clearly a narcissist. Not even adding "malignant" or "sociopathic" to the description. He wanted to argue with me. "He is just brash". Brash? My father actually studied psychology at some point in his past. I looked up the DSM-IV definition of narcissist and started rattling off the various observed Trump characteristics. Then saying, "these brash character traits are the exact definitional characteristics of a narcissist, straight from the DSM-IV". I already knew what he was going to say.... "the DSM is not an authoritative guide.... it is generalized and overused to medicalize people". Whatever. Observational data is observational data.

What in the world will it take for the corporate media to truthfully cover Trumps dangerous deterioration and for the GOP to stop covering up for him?

Steven Branch's avatar

The answer is when hell freezes over, Helen.

Christine Huber's avatar

For some reason everyone is afraid of him. I mean, what’s he going to do to them? Tweet, or whatever it’s called on his site, or say something bad about you? You would think the media would have thicker skin by now~he’s been talking crap about all of them since 2015

Helen Stajninger's avatar

Maybe they’re afraid he’ll sic his violent mobsters on them

Patt's avatar

Yes. I think he threatens their family yet maintains plausible deniability by covertly and in an implicative way talking shit about them.

Helen Stajninger's avatar

I think you are exactly right

I remember Mitt Romney saying that he had spent over $1 million OOP for protection for his family members. He added that he knew most people can't do that.

One day we are going to wake up and he will have succumbed to whatever it is that is draining the life out of him. What happens then?! At this point, is he even going to remember that he’s all over Epstein files? How do you prosecute a man for the heinous crimes he may or may not be guilty of when he is not in his right mind? It’s such a cluster fu*k right now😞. I am trying to be patient for the day of reckoning (midterms Nov 2026). The first order of business should be impeachment of the entire administration, not the 25th amendment that would hand the presidency to another charlatan dumb-ass grifter. Thank you Justin, Aaron, and all the contributors to Public Notice for continuing to sound the alarm on how precarious this situation truly is.

The vice-president is openly aligned with Europe’s fascists and racists, which must give pause to anyone imagining the day after. And with the Mike Johnson of it all, one wonders how a truly awful weasel such as he would act in the event he gains office. And all that.

I'm not sure his "meme garbage" has anything to do with being a Boomer. It has a lot to do with him being a vengeful megalomaniacal narcissist whose executive functioning appears to be deteriorating.

Heidi in Montana's avatar

Thanks, I don't love generational stereotypes. It's not as if the younger generations are always hitting out of the ballpark these days, as Turning Point has shown us. There are plenty of wonderful people and idiots in every age group.

When the media is owned by billionaires who are well served by Trump, you can’t expect them to bite the hand that feeds them.

Marliss Desens's avatar

FOX news will do what FOX news does: lie. However, the corporate media, and even NPR and PBS news are not accurately reporting on Trump's clear mental and physical decline. Republicans in Congress ignore it, Republican members of Congress, members of his Cabinet, his family members, and the oligarchs are concerned about grabbing as much power and wealth as they can, while they can. The Supreme Court refuses to check him because the conservative justices subscribe to the unitary executive theory, and they are looking at whoever follows Trump into office, whether it is the Vice President if Trump dies in office, or the Republican they hope will win through their gutting of the Voting Rights Act. Should a Democrat win the office, the Supreme Court will back pedal and be as obstructionist as they were to President Biden.

Trump is as mentally deteriorated as the press claimed Biden was...

Kim's avatar

Oh had had aides that are upstanding decent people it would be less concerning but still bad. The evil people surrounding him are frightening. What are they telling him? What are they controlling? Absolutely frightening.

“The authors — who are employed or were trained as neurologists, psychologists, physicians, and mental health experts at Harvard, the Tufts University School of Medicine, Columbia University, George Washington University, and many more — cited a long list of Trump’s behaviors, traits, and even social media posts that portray a man who is routinely displaying a “marked deterioration in cognitive functioning…”

It is worth noting that these letters have carefully avoided actual diagnosis, because the American Psychiatric Association invokes their ethics standard Goldwater Rule which says that medical professional diagnosis requires one on one examination. How this plays out when public observation and analysis clearly shows cognitive deterioration, dangerous to Trump, the US, and literally, THE WORLD.

Family members observing this same behavior would seek help for a loved one. Corporate board members would also seek the same help, along with removal of that person from leadership and decision making positions. What the F is going on with MSM, Congress, and those people around Trump (in public settings no less) acting as if nothing is wrong? Doing nothing. When Trump's alarming behaviors are happening right in front of them....

It's absolutely ouirageous the different treatment of Biden versus Donald Trump. A massive double standard by the media.

I can't see any of the Republicans around Trump deposing him. They have nowhere near adequate backbone and guts to do so*. Perhaps that may not be a bad thing. Trump appears to be dissolving into ineffectuality and given what a nasty, vindictive man he is that might be a good thing. I'm not at all sure that I'd like to see a President Vance in command. I'm by no means sure of his good will but think he's intellectually competent in a way Trump never was even in his first term.

*I know people prefer to use the term 'balls' to reflect moral courage but speaking as a man, balls are soft, sensitive and vulnerable. Not at all the body parts to think of when wanting heroic deeds!

Steven Branch's avatar

Whether you call him James Donald Bowman, James David Hamel, James David Vance or simply JD Vance, he is far more dangerous than the mentally failing, lunatic, sociopathic narcissist in the WH.

JDV is not stupid, he's a maniacally cunning shapeshifter. How someone who stated that he goes "back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a-hole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler" during the 2016 campaign and that he was a "Never-Trump guy" to becoming VP takes a healthy dose of mental gameplaying and lying to ones self mixed with moral bankruptcy and opportunism. He also comes across as a real self-righteous prick.

We are not faced with the prospect of choosing between the lesser of two evils: the current lunatic or JDV. In every aspect, they are both equally repulsive only one is a dangerous doddering old egocentric fool and the other is a smarter, more dangerous charlatan who will bring us ever closer to the end of government of, by and for the people.

A plague on both their houses.

It will be very interesting to see what happens. I can't see Trump lasting another 2.5 years. Will the cult disintegrate when the leader no longer exists?

Michael Wild's avatar

My understanding is that all cults die shortly after their leader. Thank God this one's over 80 and going down hill!

Steven Branch's avatar

We can only hope that happens but who knows. The poisoned Kool Aid drinkers are nauseating, blindly loyal to their demented Dear Leader.

Marliss Desens's avatar

Or will there be a power struggle. Certain Republicans (not Vance or Rubio) are already positioning themselves.

Heidi in Montana's avatar

I take comfort in the fact that JD has no charisma and no one likes him. He's often playing to a nearly empty room. I'm really hoping the cult isn't going to follow him once dear leader is gone, returning a lot of people who never cared about politics back to their old indifferent ways.

Steven Branch's avatar

It would seem that the regime/junta has sent JDV on fool's errands that were designed to be flops. He was sent to Pakistan by Drumpf for all of 20 hours to negotiate a truce with Iran that quickly collapsed. He was sent to Hungary to campaign for the autocrat Orban who was trounced by his opponent, Peter Magyar. He was supposed to navigate the Senate confirmation of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General (gasp!) and we all know how that turned out. JDV is about to roll out his newest book about his conversion to Catholicism. With Drumpf treating Pope Leo XIV like shit, I'm sure there will questions as to why POTUS has viciously attacked the head JDV's chosen church and images of the demented lunatic in the WH depicting himself as Jesus Christ.

Alexandra's avatar

Why would they depose him when he signs whatever they put in front of him with little or no question? He is their useful idiot and it is a significant bonus to them that he has a cult following. What more could they ask for?
