“The incompetence is the point” is exactly right. The fact that Trump believes heartily in his own genius lowers the bar to subterranean levels; hence anyone who comes close to finishing a sentence, is near brilliant to Trump.
Trump himself is incompetent. And with that incompetence comes the narcissism and selfishness, the greed and horror, all qualities which should not be held by our President.
Worth pointing out that all the outrage over the Trump firehose of illegal executive orders and plain nonsense, is a great diversion from the extraordinary graft & corruption of Trump 2.0.
No one with functioning brain cells or a conscience would set foot anywhere near the fascist trump regime. They're left with the bootlicking, groveling dregs.
That’s what I think. People know hitching your wagon to that fat ass is a death sentence. Thus Rubio has at least four job titles. They will find it near impossible to recruit anyone to that shit show.
You point out so very clearly the gross incompetence of the cabinet leaders Trump managed to put into office, and the reason behind their positions of power- truly yes-men/women who will show up on “news” shows and sound like the idiots they are- or in Rubio’s case, the ability to walk and talk without a spine! Your final paragraph reminds us that Trump will leave office- hopefully the voting citizens learned a lesson!
I truly hope that there is a price payed to many in the Senate whose yes votes put these unqualified individuals into key cabinet positions come their next election. We, the people (at least those of us who do not follow blindly) have a long memory that no rhetoric will remove our knowledge of the disasters being unleashed by this administration!
Is anyone else old enough to remember the “Peter Principle“? This administration is filled with people who embody the idea that one can fail upward and yet believe they deserve accolades for their accomplishments.
Younger people usually don’t know about that very important concept. However the Peter Principle requires you be competent right up to your final job position. You keep getting promoted until you reach the level where you are not able to be competent.
People like Hegseth, Noem, Patel, etc. weren’t qualified for the jobs they held before the jobs Trump just gave them. They fit the Dunning Kruger paradigm much better.
This is highly optimistic and I'd like to believe that this disaster can be undone, preferably with improvements done at the same time. However, given we're six months in and things only seem to be accelerating I'm disinclined to believe we'll make it through this so easily. The public seems so disengaged as to not even be disgusted with the off the charts corruption of the past week represented by the Quatari jet and the crypto bribery scheme (aka black tie party) held last night. I'd love to believe we'll climb back out of this hole but my nightmares say otherwise.
In my opinion, this carnival of chaos and destruction is the natural endpoint of the arc of Republican intention. This position or outcome started with the Gingrich Republican revolution. After 30 years of their failed attempts to make the idea of a government for the people by the people unpalatable to the American public. The next step is just to wreck our government bureaucracy so completely that it cannot deliver any of the public goods and services that it has so effectively delivered since the 1930s! Thus finally they will have a government that the American people will resent and hopefully in their view will be afraid of or be very angry at. In this delusional world, they seem highly confident that they will not be blamed for the destruction because they believe the average citizen does not pay enough attention to care enough to notice who destroyed the system!
It's also fascinating to me that the Republican Party must know that Trump is a lame duck and he is destroying the Republican Party. Maybe they don't care, or they can't think about tomorrow, or they think they'll be able to put forth a mini-Trump as the next candidate. There's no way that MAGA supports Rubio, and I'm not even sure that a majority of MAGA would support JD Vance. I live in MO and I don't believe Noem will provide FEMA help for tornado clean up and rebuilding (we had a tornado that was 1 mile wide tear a path of destruction for 23 miles through St Louis County and St Louis city). We'll have to wait and see if Hawley really calls her out instead of just giving performances. But these are mostly Democratic voters. Wait until the Trump voters in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama and George get hit with hurricanes and Noem/Trump say, sorry you're on your own.
I've been thinking about those tornadoes and wondering if Trump has even said anything about that devastation? If the latest round of refusals to provide any aid is any guide, I seriously doubt they'll provide any assistance this time around. If we're unlucky enough to have the higher than normal hurricane activity predicted it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, FEMA will do - FEMA being the victim, just like Ramaphosa in the oval - of Trump going down a rabbit hole of right wing conspiracy lunacy and making it US government policy (and no, I'm not arguing FEMA is perfect, it definitely needs reforms - but killing it with no replacement is not "reform.")
Absolutely. I'm concerned because the attitude of letting the states deal with the cost of natural disasters is beyond dangerous. Most states, especially Red states, do not have the budget to cover these expenses. More and more people are going to suffer.
I agree that incompetence is a major requirement to be in Trump's cabinet, or even to be appointed to other positions in government. However, do not overlook the nasty competence of Stephen Miller and Russell Vought.
Exactly. They are smart and evil. And a little farther back behind the blue curtain are the equally smart and evil techno-fascists: Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, David Sacks (Musk belongs to that crowd but does everything he can to stay in front of the blue curtain).
Those are the people who want every institution, function, and structure of American government and society not reformed, but destroyed. Razed. Burnt to the ground. They want that so they can impose their oligarchic, Vought-led christo-fascism and tech-billionaire-led techno-fascism on the country permanently. JD Vance -- Thiel's water boy, puppet, and mouthpiece -- has said as much explicitly.
I did not vote for Trump. I am proud of my vote. As a citizen of this country I albeit unhappy about the results realize that the other side “won”. But first, realize that 93 million people failed to cast a vote. So the reign of this current leader, Trump, is soiled because he’s taken the exact vote and run with it, shoving down our throats the precepts of Project 2025. Our protests and demonstrations must show how we shove it right back at them in another specific bodily hole. It is altogether probable that the Senate will rubber stamp the “big beautiful bill”, aka the most horrific legislation ever seen in this country. The know-nothings with whom we are saddled with to manage our government must be pointed out to be so incompetent with every opportunity imaginable.
"paranoid assaults on vaccinations, fluoride, and lifesaving medical treatments."
Don't forget his paranoia over "chemtrails". I read on social media that Florida has banned chemtrails; don't know if that's true, but my first thought was "how do you ban and/or enforce a ban on jet fuel exhaust?"
Lol - while I doubt it's true it would be entirely on brand for Florida to ban chemtrails. We declare war on condensation! Also, why does it get cold when you get higher up in the atmosphere? We ban that too!
I've been trying to explain exactly this to people for months. Trump deliberately chose people too inept and stupid to understand their jobs, making it easy for him to tell them what to do without getting any pushback. Fox News is a mother lode of MAGA loyalists, hence there are 23 Fox alumni in the Trump regime so far.
The lies are a pretext to withdraw from NATO and join Brics. The EU trade lies and porous Canadian border ( Patel says now Southern is sealed) are lies. RUBIO and others play along. Notice no big sanctions on Russia.
This explains what Rs beginning with Reagan did to the economy and Americans' perception of it. They've been lying for years, and thanks to them, too many of us believed them. Ds need to explain in simple language what the hell Rs are doing to us and the economy.
“The incompetence is the point” is exactly right. The fact that Trump believes heartily in his own genius lowers the bar to subterranean levels; hence anyone who comes close to finishing a sentence, is near brilliant to Trump.
Incompetent and willing to be totally subservient.
And look pretty for the closeup.
I call them "Trump girls." Leavitt, Noem, Bondi, Gabbard, et al.
Sorority Girls at Trump U.
Trump himself is incompetent. And with that incompetence comes the narcissism and selfishness, the greed and horror, all qualities which should not be held by our President.
True … and yet he is president, voted in by nearly 50% of voters, while the rest of America slept in.
Worth pointing out that all the outrage over the Trump firehose of illegal executive orders and plain nonsense, is a great diversion from the extraordinary graft & corruption of Trump 2.0.

That pretty much sums it up.

Yet they had to be approved by the incompetent lackeys in the Senate. How can so many elected officials be so fearful of this man?

That’s if he leaves 🤬

I have just started reading Carl Hiaasen’s most recent book “Fever Beach” which lampoons far right extremists. It’s great satire.

Trump has no plans to allow midterms
I so hope you're wring
