Imho, lying is to confuse people so they don’t believe the truth when they hear it. Fortunately, a majority of Americans are more intelligent than that.
I must admit that there are times when I ask myself if I’m living in a make believe world, or if they are. Then I read a piece such as this and become grounded in reality again.
As a malignant side effect of this administration, I notice the ethics and conduct in day-to-day life has eroded, too. I'm encountering people, both known to me and strangers, that I assumed from past experiences to be polite, kind, understanding to have become unashamedly selfish, harsh, loud, boorish, untrustworthy and indeed false. It's unfathomable to me, but a reality, how many of our fellow citizens are malleable in that way and are willing to move quickly and quietly to the dark side. The photo on top of this article seems to show a nasty characters straight out of a Gogol Farce, making good old Gollum seem benign and honest by comparison.
Time to ask the nominees for judge a follow-up question: If you were grading a law school exam with the True/ False question "Based on the 22nd amendment to the Constitution a President of the United States may be elected to that office for 3 or more terms" would you score a True response as correct?
Agree, and I think of it as the Cheshire Cat grin, wondering if the show he was on just faded out, his smug grin would remain. And as an aside, I read somewhere that he apparently has the most punchable face in this administration to which I also agree!.
I am glad to see an analysis of Trump/MAGA lies. This sort of article helps keep us grounded and prevents the lying from becoming normalized. While no politician or party is immune to lying, the Republicans have made it a key part of their go-kit for generations before Trump slithered into the scene. He just exploits and amplifies their longstanding prediction.
He is a cancer upon the body politic, with a metastatic host of those eager to get in on the power and money grab. The truth about any individual thing is just an obstacle to be pushed aside by whatever lies they feel will serve their purposes. They have seriously degraded and discarded previous political norms.

And he has besmirched America’s very reputation. From “Can Do” to “Whatever?” to “Yeah, sure.”

The grinning face behind the pointy hood.

Hasset gives me the heebie jeebies every time he’s on. Especially with that weird grin

It’s a toss-up with Scott Bessent.
And that passive aggressive “patriot” pocket square!

One problem I see is that when the Democrats lie a little bit, it provides cover for the Republicans to lie a lot.

It is vital to point out the destruction to our humanity, as today's PN does. Thank you.
