No matter the outcome, the Democrats in Congress have demonstrated to the country that they are united against this administration and are holding firm in their determination to get ICE agents reined in, to making life less fearful for the many being targeted. When I watch videos of these masked agents attacking civilians it brings to mind the old cartoons of dog pound agents swooping up dogs that are running loose. But civilians are not dogs, and this is real life, not a cartoon. Treat others with respect - why does that seem to be such a difficult ask?
I've seen conflicting reports, from sources usually trustworthy, as to whether Coast Guard members and FEMA workers are still being paid in a workaround by Trump. There have been no stories of Coast Guard members suffering, but that could be because corporate media and the public are more focused on TSA which directly affects more people.
What Noah did not mention, but is likely to be the case, is that the ICE deployment to airports, where all they could do was sit around and look scary, was part of the Bannon plan to ICE the November vote. Like Hitler did, Trump wants to get people used to seeing the Gestapo on the street checking citizenship. That way, they will not resist when they "SAVE" their steal of the midterms by illegally deploying ICE to the polls - likely by inventing a link to war powers.
Imagine that ICE's "Your papers, please" activities are used to justify arresting people waiting in line to vote. Hauled off to jail, their votes cannot be cast. By the time courts label the arrests as unjustified, the Blue wave might be just a puddle without those votes.
Is it time to start the countdown clock on Mike Johnson’s tenure as Speaker? Hopefully his caucus members will be getting an earful while they’re back in their districts. They will need someone to blame, and Trump won’t be it. Johnson is imperiled even before the Republicans in the House hopefully lose their majority in November.
Regarding Kennedy's "we would offer a bill for reconciliation where we don't need any Democratic votes to do whatever we wanted to do with ICE." I'm under the impression that reconciliation bills are very limited and the MAGAts could NOT do what they wanted with ICE through reconciliation. Can anyone add or correct this?
