Frankly I think the streamed execution of man who without question killed over 10 people is not one of the worst things Trump and Hesgeth has done (if it happens). I happen to be opposed to the death penalty in all cases but readily concede that if anyone deserves it this particular man does, though given extremist Muslims venerate martydom there's much more to be said for him to live out the rest of his life in lenghty, unpublicized ignomony.
I don't think comparing it to the racial lynchings is helpful. If a white Islamic convert (or even a white hateful atheist) had carried out this massacre there's every chance he (murderers are 90%+ male) would have been sentenced to death. My feeling is that Trump and Hesgeth, believe in the death penalty and get off with presenting themselves as strong and powerful. They also get off with pleasing the more extreme members of their supporters. This hardly reflects well on them but compared to supporting Putin, being openly corrupt, getting the legal system of a democracy to persecute political opponents or even killing by accident 100+ school kids and refusing to take responsibilty ....well let's says my powers of outrage have already been maxed out.
That said the fact that this dumb and gross suggestion is causing significant political troulble amongst non-MAGA conservatives and independents is definitely something I can look upon with good humour.
