As Dye notes, Drew Ensign was the lawyer in JGG who claimed ignorance. If in fact he was ignorant of the facts, it is because he did not investigate before making statements of fact to the Court. He seems to have done the same thing in front of Judge Sooknanan.

Both Judge Boasberg and Judge Sooknanan have grounds for referring him to the Arizona Bar for disciplinary proceedings. Until people like Ensign are afraid to risk their law licenses, they'll continue to mislead courts and hurt people.

This judge is a hero, as we are finding judges to be in this crisis for our nation. These cruel, evil, racist people are all sadists and enjoy the torture of children. I am glad that these actions were followed up with Ro Khanna and Thomas Massey together with Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Bobert, and Nancy Mace were an unlikely group supporting these women and the need to tell their stories to the public. The brave women were out there and Trump was made uncomfortable. Too bad!

Every Democrat, every politician and every person on the street if interviewed should say, "Release the full Epstein Files. Justice must be served!" and then they can address any question being asked of them. I am in Chicago where Trump wants to send ICE, our politicians should make sure to speak about the Epstein Files, so that Trump knows that if he sends people to Chicago, he will be putting the Epstein Files front and center in the news.

Remember the uproar over “grooming children”? Crickets now in the face of kidnapping children and trying to normalize pedophilia.

Exactly!

Trump speaks out of both sides of his mouth and some are waking up to that, you could say they are WOKE! Others just go along with the drivel and accept each thing because it suits their world view at the moment.

I am trying to reserve my senses of shock, and nausea, as well as outrage so that I am not like MAGA in a constant state of deep emotion. Especially since I am organizing and carrying out 3 moves this month, one is a shipping overseas, one is for my mom into memory care, so my stress level is particularly high as we prepare our place for sale.

In the meantime Trump threatens my city with troops. A lot to process.

So sad we are now depending on the federal judiciary to stop this onslaught of Trump corruption and criminality … especially since said fatso has bought the Supreme Court.

That said, keep on fighting the good fight!

I know I should have got used to it by now, but the arrogant contempt for the law, judges and due process still has me shaking my head in wonderment.

Liz, thank you for your excellent reporting about the firm and swift actions of Judge Sparke Sooknanan and her no BS policy. I always thought that if you told bold-faced lies to the court, your law license would be in jeopardy (I'm looking at you, Drew Ensign). The cruel games that the regime/junta is playing amount to child abuse on an epic scale. At least, for now, many in the judicial branch are throwing sand in the gears of lawlessness and indecency and I admire their courage and strength.

It is important to note that the rank and file of ICE was quite willing to ignore a court order.

They saw the paperwork and blew it off. I suspect this will only get worse when ICE decides it no longer needs to listen to the DoJ. Eventually the courts will need to make a move to enforce their orders upon this criminal administration. Neither side has been eager for this final confrontation, but ICE is filled with people who despite their concern about "illegals" have shown time and again they care nothing about the law.

How do any of these ‘officials’ sleep at night? May they always be tormented with nightmares the rest of their lives for spineless carrying out these evil orders and causing such harm and despair to our fellow human beings….

"It’s also a strong rebuke to doomers who say that the law doesn’t matter..."

I mean, with respect, it's the absolute opposite, a concrete demonstration at every level of the breakdown of the rule of law.

A government institution acted without legal justification, and continued to do so unless a judge checked every couple of hours or so, and EVEN THEN the government continued until someone showed up on the ground at the aiport. And the kicker? It could all be futile when the assigned judge changes, because of the political appointment of that judge. None of that is normal in a functioning liberal democracy.

The rule of law isn't about curbing the worst excesses, its about the everyday binding of citizens and institutions to agreed rules. This isn't a strong rebuke, its an absolute indictment.

Many judges have been heroes. Some judges are weak, and appeals courts have too often shown cowardice. SCOTUS has been giving conflicting messages, as I am sure they have not yet decided to give up all their power and become completely irrelevant. Their moment of truth has not yet come.
