Thank you for so clearly laying out the abomination and moral failure that is this bill. The harm that will be done to individuals is repugnant and morally indefensible and the damage that will be done to our nation and society is unforgivable and long-lasting. I'm trying hard to find any silver lining these days... It's exhausting.

Finally, work requirements—like the denial of health care, they should first be applied to Congress whose members get free healthcare without working … unless you call showboating work.

Excellent post except for “less money for other needs.” The federal government can create as much money as it wants without financial limit. No matter how much money the wealthy take, the government can always create more dollars to address social needs. By repeating the taxpayer myth, you reinforce the neoliberal framing that says we can’t afford to do so many things that need to be done. Government spending is limited by the availability of *real* resources, not by the availability of dollars. Any spending must be analyzed on its effect on economic activities, but the availability of dollars is never an issue. #LearnMMT

You know, for all the complaints about DEI, this proposed bill makes its MAGA points without benefit of how real Americans are affected—why is that any different? Policy by prejudice; at least DEI includes, not excludes.

This bill is so gargantuan, such a slapdash collection of tack ons, that I think we can safely predict that in its present form it doesn't have a chance of flying. It will be like another behemoth that never flew- the Lockheed CL 1201 "Flying Aircraft Carrier" a nuclear powered Cold War inspiration that never had a chance of getting off the ground. So too the fate of the BBB.

Another Trump effort to be mired down in the courts. Such is the wisdom of Project 2025 — Everybody Left Behind.

You should have listed the most catastrophic outcome of cutting millions of Americans off from Medicaid - a sharp rise in the number of deaths due to not having access to health care. The news media isn't saying this "hard part out loud."
