AND, to be honest...thank the gods for Johnson's ineffectiveness! Think of the horrifying mess we'd have to clean up if Johnson was actually good at being Speaker.

Worse, if Johnson WAS an effective leader, we wouldn't have even the glimmer of an opportunity to win the House and Senate at midterms. I despise his sniveling, little ratweasel heart...but in this one way at least, thank goodness that Johnson IS such a wimpy little pos.

No one can be an effective leader under the Trump regime. Trumpism is a cult and cults only have one leader. The rest are (expendable) followers.

I believe Little Johnson did exactly what he was supposed to do. He wasn't put in place to be effective. He was put in place because he's the typical "yes man" for Don Snoreleone. This administration needs an ineffective Congress if their goal is to strengthen power in the Executive Branch.

A well-functioning Congress would actually be a check on the President's power, even if the party controlled both the House and the Senate. Just the fact that he let Mango Mussolini enact tariffs without Congress' approval goes to show that his ineffectiveness is a feature, not a bug.

"Apparently, the Lord was playing a trick on his humble servant: He may have given Johnson the job, but He didn’t say he’d be any good at it."

This is the sort of pithy comment I wish I could make so many times a day. *sigh*

In terms of political effectiveness the passing of the Repulsive Big Bill was certainly an achievement A deeply unpopular series of polcies were shepherded through Congress despite a wafer thin majority. I wasn't privvy to the wheeling and dealing behind the scenes but find it hard to believe the Speaker didn't have a substantial role in that.

The problem is that the Bill is utterly repulsive and its effects deeply damaging. But Johnson, like the vast majority of elected Republicans has totally thrown in his lot with Trump and will have to take the consequences.

So no I don't think Johonson deserves to be called ineffective. The trouble is that history, even history written shortly after his speakership evaporates will say it would have been very much better if he had never got into elected politics. But he'll have PLENTY of mates (of all genders!).

Far be it from me to defend this pathetic, smirking weasel, but I would file this one in the bulging folder marked "Everything Trump Touches Dies." The dysfunction of Trump 2.0 is so profound and pervasive, it's like a 50-megaton nuke that hit Washington and has been spreading a deadly radiation cloud over every branch and every institution within and beyond the blast radius.

It has been grimly entertaining to watch Johnson dance amid the flames. I'm not sure what kind of speaker/leader he might have been in a semi-normal situation, but that's a moot point, isn't it?

Johnson is a self-righteous religious fanatic who believes he is doing God’s work and wants the rest of us to follow his perverted view of Christianity. He is enjoying the cruelty.

While I have no sympathy for Mike Johnson, this does have all the flavor of Trump and how he bullies people and corrupts those who get close to him. I agree that this Republican House was incapable of finding a better speaker, which is a sad reflection of the Republican party, which gives good reason to remove them from any shred of power.

The three worst presidential administration in history are Buchanan, Johnson, & Harding for multiple reasons but mainly incompetence or corruption. Now we have trump joining this trio & making a strong case to be the worst. But to exacerbate all the damage being done we have a House Speaker who is a weak incompetent buffoon & a corrupt Chief Justice leading a extremist, partisan, & corrupt SCOTUS majority.

Why is Johnson complaining about people calling him late at night when he is awake anyway answering God’s calls?
