Thank you for sticking with it!!! Your reporting has been absolutely essential to understanding what is happening here for me. We are in this together!! I really can’t say any of this enough. You posted a buy me a coffee link. Please repost so I can give you more money to keep this going.
Kamala's loss was devastating, and it took weeks, maybe months, to semi-recover. As a 68-year-old white man, it was intense. I often wondered if I could invest the time and emotion into another 'hope'. Then came Tuesday. This is the country I remembered, wanted, and have been serving for the last 46 years. The Ds, the women, the Black successes, Native Americans, and the Latinos in TX, AZ, and NM. I had tears in my eyes.
I know Jerry. I'm an Australian but I consciously detatched from following the news for about 2-3 months (and I'm a news junky) because I didn't want to be reminded of Trump Mk 2. I told my GP that my depression wasn't being improved by the actions of Donald Trump (it's a pre-existing condition) and she laughed and said that she'd had a lot of people talking about Donald Trump. Quite surprising from a smallish regional city on the West (ie the remote side) coasts of Australia.
Glad you stuck at it Aaron. I don't hold much hope for great improvement in the Republican party but contrary to your take I think it would be hard pressed to be 'just as bad.' I'd only caution that a lot of voters don't pay as much as 10% of the attention to political news as the people who read your stuff. In 2024 they remembered that prices had been high and so tossed out the governing party. This year they noted that prices were high and a lot of them knew that Trump had actually done things that kept them high (the Hormuz Strait and tarriffs) and so turned strongly against them. They were never voting for Trumpism in 2024 and they're not really voting for the Democrats now. (They were of course seriously voting against the Republicans this year).
But cheer up. The Republicans have a giant turd in the White House (sorry to libel honest excrement) and that turd isn't going anywhere. The stink of it will surely attach itself to the Republican party and such is Trump's hold on the it I can't see them even trying to rid themselves from him even if they see it's leading to electoral destruction. That probably won't lead to something like our recent D+14% election but barring something that goes seriously amiss Democrats will surely be on the postive side of the ledger. That should be enough to get the Presidency, the House and you can already bet the farm it will control the Senate., Then the repair job will start.
PS I absolutely love PN and am down right proud to sponser it financially. I'm making the world a better place doing so.

I’ve been following since 16. You were so young&brave, I worried about you.
You as much as as anyone is responsible for this eventuality.
Congratulations 🎈
I am grateful for your work Aaron, and happy that you kept going. Enjoy your weekend! 😀
