I don’t know which comment is the worst, but this is right up there: Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan...insisted the domestic abuse allegations were “a family matter”

Susan Kain's avatar

No, Jim Jordan, it's a police matter--and you know it. When you studied law, you must have been studying "Republican law."

Well, probably Gymmie's brain is less--MUCH less--like a sponge and more like a marble. With a sponge-like brain, knowledge soaks right in; with a marble-like brain, knowledge just beads up and rolls off. And Gymmie's brain is not even as large as a marble; it's more like an eensy little glass bead.

Now when I see him, your image will be right there.

It used to be a “family matter,” and the worst of them would like to take us back there. Just as Jim Jordan *might* have thought the fact that the abuse of young men was a “gym matter,” although he vehemently denies he knew about it.

"U.S. Representative Jim Jordan faces accusations from multiple former Ohio State University wrestlers that he knew about the sexual abuse committed by team doctor Richard Strauss during Jordan's tenure as an assistant wrestling coach from 1986 to 1994."

Many people might not know this about Jordan, or might have forgotten. I like to think our comments work together for the good.

Exactly. I kept missing the link to his own behavior and your comment spurred me on.

It looks to me like the whole Republican Party under Trump is domestic abuse on a grand scale, with every one of them intimidated and coerced into a realm of thinking and behaving to please Trump and avoid his hostilities. Is any one of them fully free of his reach? They barely have room to squirm.

Gym always goes out of his way to prove just how stupid he really is.

Why oh why aren't these people being crucified by the GOP? Family values? Law and order? No. Just assholes who condone violence against women. In their actions, in what they say, in their legislation. Women get out and vote! Use our power.

Teresa Baustian's avatar

The “family values” rhetoric of the right has always and only been about opposition to rights for, and oppression of, LGBTQ people.

That’s why you never see anything of benefit to families come from a gop senator or representative

Because "family values" was nothing but a marketing slogan.

As a survivor of domestic abuse, I am incandescently furious about Max Miller appearing to get away with abusing his wife and two year old daughter. He broke his child’s collarbone! For that alone he should not only not be running for Congress, but he should be in prison.

Mary-BethSMontgomery's avatar

He’s the classic example of punishing the ex by harming the child. He shouldn’t be allowed visitation without someone else present

Their rhetoric has always been a way to divide the populace. Keep the people divided and keep power and money for themselves.

I send my second constituent message (about Dr. Fauci hearing performance and more) to Sen. Moreno last Thursday morning, and later in the day, the restraining order news is reported. Then, we have the weekend events from Sen. Moreno and Rep. Miller. Hmmm… further inspired to keep sharing my dissenting voice.

The rethuglican party is just daycare for narcissists and sociopaths.

"Miller insisted this meant the accusations are false, which would be convincing if you knew nothing at all about domestic abuse and if you also hated women." This sentence describes all MAGA voters, including the women, who may know about domestic abuse but refuse to see it.

I am so exhausted from all these people's psychology. Get rid of all these lunatics. It goes without saying that it is more depressing to hypothesize about the attitudes of the voters who elect such people as their representatives. It is a horrifying use case of "turtles all the way down."

Canadian Gen X's avatar

How is Miller not in jail for child abuse? Your system is so f*cking broken.

Bernie Moreno and Max Miller are BOTH garbage.

Miller, for his spousal and child abuse (and his lies); and Moreno, both for his greater loyalty to the cult than to his daughter and granddaughter, as well as to the law he (as an elected representative to our republic) is tasked with upholding; and BOTH of them for refusing to confront domestic violence simply because misogyny and "man always right" are --like lies, fraud, adultery, pedo, grift, and hatred of our Constitution-- Republican core values.

Remember to vote for AMERICANS in November: we've allowed Republicans enough time to damage our nation over these 2 years, don't you think?

If you doubt these allegations against Miller, read Anna Wharton’s piece asking what women would do to the unconscious body of a man when they thought no one would find out? Then think about what men do to women to discredit, demean, threaten and rape and kill. And yes, our president has been charged and convicted in addition to being accused by dozens of women. His treatment of women is a matter of record. So as this case illustrates change is incremental because men don’t view women as human or equal. It reinforces that even if laws change, men don’t.

Great post this morning. I don’t like Bernie Moreno, but I am glad to see him finally stand behind his daughter in support. How anyone with a functioning brain can be willing to vote for any republican, especially disgusting Max Miller is mind boggling. Maximum participation of the voters in November is what is required to excise the MAGA cancer afflicting this country. At 61, I doubt I will ever regain any trust in the Republican Party ever again. Thank you for this update, Noah.❤️🤍💙

Like attracts like. Elect a misogynistic, abusive, bullying, narcissist to POTUS (twice!!!) and see all the other versions of himself follow on his coattails.

Support from Jim Jordan is not exactly enough to move the needle. The supporters of Miller are not people known for their impeccable character, their morality or honesty or integrity or truthfulness. Personally, I would feel massively degraded if those were the best examples of people willing to stand up on my behalf.
