I would also note that Fani Willis had trouble finding special prosecutors who would take this assignment due to the « low » hourly rate of $250.00/hour & the fear of harassment & assault by MAGA supporters.
I thought the most amazing part of it was her and her father’s testimony that she can’t live in her own house because of relentless attacks from MAGA mobs who spray paint the B word and N word on her house and threaten her and her father’s lives. So not only does anyone who prosecutes Trump get attacked by Trump’s lawyers for everything they do or don’t do but their lives and their families are continuously threatened by MAGA mobs. Trump is truly a despicable person as are his followers.
Lisa, Thank you for giving us more details on what the complaint is. I imagine that most human beings do things that Trump can spend time having his army of minions dig up. If they don't exist, he will trump something up. In any case, humans make mistakes. I am neither disappointed in Ms. Willis or surprised that the plaintiffs have gummed up the works over this. It is their job. You are so right to point out that we cannot rely on the courts alone to protect us from Trump. It is up to the will of the voters. I for one, will be casting my vote for Biden-Harris in the Democrats Abroad Germany General Presidential Primary, GPP. I recommend other Democrats living abroad join Democrats Abroad for support with making sure your vote is counted. Also, if you know anyone who is living abroad please recommend this. They are planning a big Pro-Democracy rally on July 4, 2024, which is not yet finalized. Here is a link to Democrats Abroad. https://www.democratsabroad.org/
I am listening to Midas Touch Legal AF, especially Karen Friedman Agnifalo. She was previously 2nd to top at the Manhattan DA’s office and really feels this is an HR issue and not a conflict for trying the case as both names are on the same side of the “vs”(although surely a moment of indiscretion given what is at stake). I wish there would be less hype about taking her off the case, given this perspective.
Except he's not an employee, he's an outside contractor. I mean, it's not a great look, but it's also not at all a supervisor/employee relationship with all the attendant ethical/legal issues.
Unfortunate choice by Willis given her own campaign for office. Also, agree our systems can’t handle Trump’s conniving with gumming up the system. I continue to worry we are Weimar America.
It may come down to November 5, to keep him out of office. However, it does appear (presumption of innocence notwithstanding) that he belongs behind bars, and that is the best result.
So, disappointed in her. Most businesses have a relationship disclosure. I hope she wins out. If they have to start over again, it will be a mess. They have so much evidence against citizen T—his own words. This could have been the real deal to get citizen T out of the way.
Thank you for candidly laying this out. Most other non-MAGA folks have been treading so softly around the situation, but it is a mess! I was so angry with Willis when this came to light, even though I know it's mostly about politics and not justice. She's jeopardized a lot with her decisions, even if the accusations about her and Wade prove to be unjust or ultimately irrelevant. Until this, it seemed like she was focused and being meticulous in the details.
P.S. For the non-sports-minded among us, I beg of you to please stop using "own goal." I have to look it up every time and it still doesn't make sense to me in the context in which you're using it. Anyway, that's really MY problem, I know.

I really feel like this amounts to nothing much. And it pisses me off.
More like the US can’t claim to be a country of laws. Justice in the US is a farce. Money is all that matters.

It’s never a good idea to have romantic relationships, let alone sex, with your coworkers. Especially when you’re their superior.
