I am not sure why anyone ignores the fact that the US public lost out on the taxes that would have been paid by the bank, based on the income it would have properly received if Trump had paid under the right terms? Our economy literally lost out on taxes that the bank should have paid the the US banks based on income it should have received by Trump. Everyone signs up for his rhetoric that no one was hurt .. there is a direct and measurable hurt that is even easier to express that these ones which Liz clearly identifies

I assume Germans lost out on some tax money too. Since I am a citizen of both countries, as are many people I know, so we belong to those whom the Trump family doubly screwed. I am going to see whether the news in Europe is discussing this tonight. Europe is in Navalny shock, and Trump shock from when he said Russia should attack NATO countries who do not pay 2% of their budget to defense. Germany is one of those countries. So is France. https://www.statista.com/statistics/584088/defense-expenditures-of-nato-countries/

Any way you know of to monitor the source(s) of funds if he actually posts bonds in the Carroll appeal or this one? Lots of concern being expressed about his becoming beholden to plutocrats and oligarchs around the world, especially given Engoron's order. He's strapped, and the PACs can't help him, nor will banks likely lend to him (to the extent that there exist any that Engoron hasn't proscribed). This seems like a very precarious moment, and if there's any of Trump's hide that isn't claimed by Putin, it's surely for sale right now. Is there any way to suss that out?

Not only are we worried about his continuing to deepen the hold that Putin and the Saudi Prince have on him, but the GoFundMe that was developed to fund his crimes had a lot of people like me complaining about how that violates their own charter.

How will the IRS come into play? There must be tens of millions in lost tax revenue. I'm particularly thinking of the year he managed get around a 70 million dollar refund!

Won't there be federal penalties for all of this?

I hope the source of any money he does pay is ferrered out. I can't see any Americans bailing him out except for the billionaire set that owns SCOTUS. I hope we find out where funds come from.

Apparently, Trump is currently under audit and the IRS will be very interested in Judge Engoron's decision which spells out exactly how Trump committed this fraud. I'm certain the IRS is looking at the conservation easements which, historically, have been used by the wealthy as a way to lower their tax bills and rests on valuations, inflated valuations in Trump's case. There are tax cases already decided discussing the fraud in this area of the law. The Dept of Revenue for the state of NY will also be looking into Trumps tax filings. Trump Org was already found guilty of tax fraud. If the businesses owe more taxes so do Trump and kids. In the end, Trump is going to have a lot of bills to pay, with interest and penalties. And, there is no statute of limitations for tax fraud. Personally, I don't care if Trump goes to jail, or is under house arrest. I want to see him losing his money and being seen for the fraud he is.

I personally would like to see him exiled with his treasonous self, but I would settle for a maximum security prison, and someone overseeing his assets for the rest of his life.

Agreed. But without him having any assets.

As my mother would say off hand...

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, with a wink.

Just the interest and penalties will make this initial amount look like pittance.

Now to just Fire the Cannon in Florida. I hope Jack gets her off the case soon. If Tff was to win the immunity case. I hope Joe says okay and starts kicking people out of Congress. Passing amazing new gun regulations and voting rights. Absolutely rewrite America's codes for the good of all and expands the court.

Then overturns presidential immunity. Make it all backfire on the pantload.

This is a good explanation. Yet in a sense, it doesn't matter. The NY legislature decided fraudulent financial statements were behavior it wanted to discourage and passed a law barring them. If Trump doesn't like that law, he should go to the legislature to get it rescinded. He's complaining about the existence of the law basically. Of course we all know he thinks he's above all laws. And that he's never responsible for anything, nor are any of the other Trumps.

The 3 major symptoms of narcissistic personality (there are several minor ones) are grandiosity, struggles with insight, and lack of empathy.

These symptoms in an adult are usually related to early modeling during childhood.

We all are basically paying the visa bill racked up by Trump‘s father.

He has another option too. It is one that is currently being forced on him. He can cease to do business in NY after his time is up if he does not like or want to abide by their laws. Let see what is left of his properties elsewhere after this is all said and done.

“My father built the skyline of New York City, and this is the thanks he gets?" Uh, he owns a lot of real estate, fully or partially. But how much did he BUILD?

Trump still can't wrap his mind around the fact that the Trump Brand adds NOTHING to the value of a property if the buyer isn't interested in using it. Just like he can't get his mind around the idea that a tariff isn't a tax the foreign seller pays to the US.

Trump's marketplace abuses by fraudulently reporting his worth should anger all market fundamentalists as well as people who believe that markets can be a cleansing force that offers fairness and meritocracy.
